Help - claw pulled out

Advice please - one of our cats has managed to get his claw stuck in the duvet cover he was sleeping on and before my son could disentangle his claw he has pulled it out getting himself off the cover. It has come out completely. Is this serious or not? What should I do? Many thanks.

is it the whole claw or just the sheath covering it, has it been bleeding, our cat did this in a floorboard and ended up going to the vet to have a painkiller and it cleaned out. hope kitty is ok.

Have you tried checking her paws, press each finger gently and each claw should pop through, you will see if one is missing. The sheath is the claw cover, it's thin, a bit see through and doesn't have any blood vessel.

It would bleed a fair bit if it was the whole claw from the nail bed - you would know.

They shed the outer sheath naturally. If the one you found didn't have blood or pulp inside and no bleeding paw, then it was just the sheath.

ok now having a good look - no blood - I think it just pulled the whole sheath out . Thank goodness that is all it is.

Glad he's ok, if he starts limping or licking at it a lot it might be worth seeing vet. Smile

ok just wanted to come back on this - on reflection and having watched several on line videos it was the sheath that was pulled out. Have kept a close eye on him and he has been fine. Thank you so much for your replies.
