Did your cats change much when you were pregnant/had dc?

We are ttc, and have 3 cats. They are very much loved and we would never, ever consider rehoming them. But I do worry about how they may react if the time comes and we have dc.

1 of them is more of a people cat when he gets used to it but generally they’re all nervous and hide from new people, particularly if children come to visit.

It is probably a while away, but I still worry (I may have even suggested to DH we should get a conservatory fitted to give them more space before we have dc!).

If they did change, did it take them long to get back to normal? Did they become aggressive or just nervous? How were they around dc at first?

They all sleep in our room, so the other thing I worry about is having to shut them out of the room Sad 1 was from a shelter and 2 were strays and are very clingy when it comes to bed time!

I have a cat who used to sleep on my bed at night. We stopped this when I was pregnant- quite gradually; she came in at bed time and sat with me while I read my book then when I when I was ready to turn the lights out I took her onto the landing where we set up a comfy cat bed with her (my!) favourite blanket. She got used to that quite quickly. She wasn't remotely interested in DS when he was a newborn. She is a bit more interested now he is 8mo and sits up, rolls around, bounces in his jumperoo etc. but she doesn't approach him and he loves her - always gives her a big grin when he sees her! I am always careful not to leave them unsupervised together eg if I pop to the loo. I don't think she would do anything but not taking any chances.
