Long haired winter coat maintenance

My long haired old girl has got her first winter coat (she was brought up overseas in a much milder climate) and it's quite something!

Her ?mane? is crazy though and it looks like it's getting in her way when she's bathing.

Should we see about getting it trimmed or give her a little trim around her chin? Or leave her alone?

She'll probably reach equilibrium after a couple of winters.
Last two cats have been long haired, old girl was hair ball from hell type, current cat ... there is a lot of him and a lot of floof, bit grooming and hairball issues don't seem to be a problem.
He loves being brushed, which is half the battle.

doobiegetta what breed is your cat? She is beautiful, I'm on the hunt for my next cat just trying to settle on the breed.

I got a groomer to do the three b's a few years ago (bib belly bot). The sound omitting from her was TERRIBLE so I upped my grooming to every other day and it has paid off to avoid getting the groomer back. She hasn't had mats to her armpits or tummy since. I have a pair of small safety scissors which I use to trim her bib when she is lying on her back fast asleep as she cannot groom herself if it is too long.
