Cat keeps going in his litter tray?!

I've got two cats, my male Siamese has constantly been in and out of his (shared) litter tray for the last week. He goes in, jumps out then 5 minutes later hes back in again. Being Siamese he seems to have quite strange habits any way so I'm not sure if this is normal for the beed? I only notice it when I'm in the kitchen. He's an indoor cat and I can't tell if he's actually useing it everytime or just digging and jumping out. Is this concerning or not? Is there anything I can do to monitor it a bit better?

Have you seen him pee lately? My boy cat started doing this when he had a blockage.

catlover1987 · 30/01/2018 12:40

I would take him to the vet to get it checked out. My moggy was doing this. We soon realised she was trying to pee but couldn't. She had a urinary tract infection and had to be given antibiotics. If cats can't pee, even for a short time, it can be very dangerous. I'd give the vet a call.

Urinary crystals. Needs to go to the vet.

I'd take him to the vet ASAP. He could have a urinary problem and that is a very serious problem. Hope he's OK.

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 30/01/2018 12:56

my cat did this and it was cystitis.

he needs the vet.

(only exception is if you have just changed the litter and he is fussy and then pees on your shoes instead ......... talking from experience ......)

Yeah I would probably take mine to the vet if she started doing that.

thecatneuterer · 30/01/2018 19:55

It is likely to be a blocked bladder and needs to be seen urgently. If you haven't yet been to the vet you need to go now or he might die.

Thank you all for your advice and replies. I called the vet yesterday and they said to remove the lid of his tray and watch what he's doing. If he's constantly weeing or trying to wee but can't then to take him in today. (They said they did think it was possible He just liked going in his tray too dig?) He didn't wee yesterday (as far as I can tell) and he's gone in his tray 6 times this morning already and squatted but not weed. So I will be ringing the vets as soon as they open.

Poor thing! Definitely take him in ASAP.

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 31/01/2018 13:40

any news?

Purplerain101 · 31/01/2018 13:43

My Maine coon does this when he has a UTI (male cats are quite prone to them). Get some cystaid tablets for him to sprinkle on his food and also take him to the vets so they can check him over as he might need an antibiotic
