And its been there for a few daysEnvyBlush
I'm going to have to cut it off aren't I? How on earth do I do it though? He is a gentle boy but HATES being held and my main fear is cutting him accidentally. Help!

Not in his bum, on his bum! Well near it I suppose.
Oh man.

I would hold him by the back of the neck and trim the soiled hair with a pair of scissors. Have you got a friend that could help you?

BluebellTheDonkey · 28/01/2018 09:52

My DH could help but boy cat is so strong I worry he will struggle at the crucial moment! Would a vet do it? They are due their 6 monthly check up anyway...

Oh my sister cat was long haired and used to get poo nuggets. It’s gross.

It’s a 2 man job... burrito in a towel tightly and the other person cut.

Els1e · 28/01/2018 12:52

I should think a vet will but I would rather tackle it than having poo hanging off his backend. Basically bits of that poo are going to be everywhere he sits.

Want2beme · 28/01/2018 13:27

Have you got a comb? You could dampen the cling on with a wipe out water, ,then comb it through. That's what I do.

Want2beme · 28/01/2018 13:27

*wipe or water!

Allaboutthatcake · 28/01/2018 13:30

So they’re much smaller but I get this with my guinea pigs. A quick snip with scissors is best providing they’re very sharp. For a cat I’d defo go down the two man burrito route...

BluebellTheDonkey · 28/01/2018 15:56

OK when DH is back I am going to try a 2 man burrito! Wish me luck...

I think it is beyond the water and comb route, otherwise a good idea...

I had to take one of mine to the vet when she ate some Sheba, that went straight through her. I thought it was a job best left to the professionals! Ask them to give him a bum and back leg trim at the same time.

BluebellTheDonkey · 28/01/2018 16:41

Toddler I didn't know you could ask for thatShock I may go down that route, he's just escaped and is having none of it. He's so strong! When he needed an abscess cleaning, the vet took him into another room. After I had attempted failed to hold him steady. Who knows what they did in there but he came back with a clean wound! He's so gentle with us, except when we try and restrain him!

I used to have a very timid and very hairy cat, regular sedation for a trim was the only way to manage her arse. I moved and tried to book one in with a new vet who refused and asked me to bring her in as he'd never needed to do that before. Ha ha it didn't take long before he changed his mind.

Want2beme · 28/01/2018 16:45

Toddler he'll get very chilly in his nether regions Grin. I'm so tempted to chop off my girls' poo trews, but I'm hanging on for a few more months yetConfused

Toddlerteaplease · 28/01/2018 19:11

The groomer is coming to do my girls 'poo trews' (ha ha love it) on Friday. As they are both in need of a tidy up, and starting to get nuggets.

BluebellTheDonkey · 28/01/2018 21:51

It is gone! Softened it up with a warm flannel and then managed to part it enough from his to snip with scissors! He was surprisingly cooperative in the end and then spent ages cleaning himself so I think it is relief all round!Grin
Thanks for all the tips, I will get him trimmed anyway I think! Don't fancy going through that again anytime soon.

On Thursday my poor dog had a poo stuck half in half out of her bum and she was very distressed. Had to pop her on top of outside bin with Dd and a pair of latex gloves and squeeze it out and nip it off. Then wash her shihtzu hair and snip her hair till all residue was gone. She went down to groomers on Friday to make sure she was clean and freshness is restored!
