Did the monthly full change and wash of the litter tray. The black sack I poured the dirty litter in broke as I picked it up. Then the second sack I put it in broke as well. Dirty litter all over my beautiful clean floor. The litter is sand texture and exactly the same colour as the floor! Think I've got it all, but will be walking it everywhere for days. SadConfused I'm sure Fatty and Snorg were laughing at me!

Oh yuck :(

I have to force myself to go slowly when it comes to a full litter change as I can be quite gung ho so there's potential for disaster. Broken binbags would be a nightmare!!

Hope you've got a good vacuum cleaner...!

Toddlerteaplease · 26/01/2018 23:09

I've got a Dyson cordless, thank goodness!

What sort of litter is that? Mugging here does it 3 times a day!!!

KatyMac · 26/01/2018 23:13

*Muggins

I once tripped on the stairs while carrying down a particularly filthy litter tray, As I crash landed on my bottom the contents of the tray flew upwards and rained down on my head.

BulletFox · 27/01/2018 00:16

catneuterer Grin

I'm sorry but I laughed at your pain!

Not the best sort of shower!

I had 'kitty poogate' in 2009 when I first got mine, she'd had diarrhoea and stood with back paws outside the litter tray scrabbling at the tray with some ferocity and it upturned (she sent it flying) and I stared kn horror at liquid cat poo splattered against the wall and slowly dripping down.

Then went out and bought rubber gloves and dettol with steely eyed determination.

Hope cat litter washed out of your hair ok Blush

Katy, it's intersand classic, scoop once daily and full change once a month. That's with two indoor cats using the same box.

TCN, sorry, I laughed out loud at that!

Hmm is it expensive to try (in case he doesn't like it) - do you have to have a special tray?

3 times a day is getting me down (esp when we go away over night and have to leave 3 or 4 out)

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2018 19:49

It's about £15 for a 15kg bag. One bag lasts me about 6 weeks. Zooplus do two bags for £25 I think.

(I have a very large tray)

OP posts:
KatyMac · 27/01/2018 20:35

Hmm DH has decided we should give it a go

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2018 23:12

Good luck. My friend who is a bit funny about smells, also used it. I scooped out his cats over full litter tray today and still couldn't smell it.

You could try a smaller 7kg bag just in case he doesn't like it. But it's very soft on the paws. And clumps really well.

KatyMac · 27/01/2018 23:36

too late ikd already bought a very expensive bag!

never mind he will like it or the local cats shelter will

my biggest problem is wet feet if i donkt change it often enough....yuk!

Allergictoironing · 28/01/2018 09:26

I just scoop mine twice a day, then do a full change fortnightly. I use wood pellets so minimal smell, but non-clumping so I have to carefully scrape the top layer until I reach the wet underneath to scoop that out reasonably effectively. Only real issue is that it tracks - BOY does it track round the house - but I'm not exactly houseproud Grin

KatyMac · 28/01/2018 12:16

Wood makes the cat sneeze! We use paper but he gets wet feet!!

It was compostable in our last house (as long as we scooped the poop) but not in this house so not as green as it was

Clay is very un-eco isn't it?

Toddlerteaplease · 28/01/2018 21:58

Let me know how you get on with it Katy.

KarmaStar · 28/01/2018 22:04

Hi OP how do you manage that? My cats seem to sit cockeyed as there's always a little bit of poo on the edge so it's a twice daily scrub out and refill(keeping the clean litter aside)perhaps your cat could show my lot the toilet etiquette??
Did see on tv the other day a cat jumping on a toilet seat and having a long wee in there!

BulletFox · 28/01/2018 22:37

Oh how I wish...

I have entertained notions of training the cat to use the loo, it would probably end badly however...

Toddlerteaplease · 29/01/2018 06:05

They have A top entry box. It's brilliant and cuts down on tracking.
