My cat keep humping me

Apologies for the title but it really sums it up. I've been considering posting for a while but it seems so ridiculous.

My Bengal Cross rescue is 2 years old and such a lovely cat. He was hand reared by his previous owner (I have also hand reared cats form a couple of weeks old and have had a lot of rescues) but he has become obsessed with humping. He was neutered when he was a kitten but it seems to be more frequent the older he gets

I just woke up to him humping my arm, meowing in my ear and trying to chew my hair. And it's becoming more and more frequent

He occasionally tries to hump DH but he seems rather obsessed with me and occasionally lets out a shrill scream in my face for no reason.

I really am at a loss and have no idea what to do next so any advice is appreciated he is a lovely cat and I have never encountered a cat acting in this way. He is fit and healthy, and happy as far as I know

Mine is the same op and gets really angry if I push him away and does a horror movie angry noise. I have no idea how to stop it

BulletFox · 11/01/2018 01:42

Oh it made me laugh about the hair chewing, mine did that the other day!!

No idea about the humping...that made me laugh as well, sorry Blush

Hopefully a cat expert will be along soon :)

I wonder if it is some kind of attachment issue. I just don't know. I've never had a cat that has humped before and he seems to become quite fixated. But otherwise he is a pretty normal cat

My lovely tuxedo, now gone, used to do this at bedtime. He would hump my lower leg and make all sorts of strange noises. When I pushed him off he'd scream at me and jump off the bed in disgust. I asked the vet what it was all about, as he had been neutered, and she said it's just learned behaviour and he'll always do it.

There was a funny thread on here a few months ago about cats that hump fleecy throws and robes (I have one of those cats). I think it's just something some cats do.

RustyPaperclips · 11/01/2018 22:14

@Want2beme that sounds exactly like my boy

@thecatneuterer I missed that thread, but my Bengal boy has taken quite a liking to my favourite woolen cardigan

Can you get him his own soft toy or cushion ?

ragged · 12/01/2018 20:26

I have a humper (sigh). My arm is his best thing ever.

TeaAddict235 · 12/01/2018 22:23

I've seen dogs do this too. Is it a way of staying their claim or that they are a bit horny and you (a female ?) are their only outlet?

Just musings

RustyPaperclips · 12/01/2018 22:40

He isn't interested in cushions or toys. Only my arm or my clothes. That is what makes me wonder if it is an attachment issue.

He gets on very well with our other two cats and also DH. But I am the only one he chooses to hump.

I've had dogs that humped but never a cat and the screaming in my face is rather alarming to wake up to!

Oh gosh, that is awkward Grin I have no advice, but my cat is equally weird if that helps. If I give him a lot of fuss, he gets.. and I'm so sorry, I don't know how to phrase it in a not-weird way, a little erection Blush he then gets very confused, tries to lick it away then glares at me. It's all very very awkward Blush Cats are weird!

RustyPaperclips · 13/01/2018 01:04

Oh yes, my cat does the post hump wash. It is very odd but I don't want to give him a complex Confused

So it is something they do then...
Sev is properly neutered, but he does this, too. On DD's leg or arm and recently he started on my arm when I'm wearing my fleece jacket. It's the arm that operates my mouse and we argue about this. If I throw him out he acts all insulted.
