Is your cat a whinger?

Mines doing my head in. "Merr, merr, merr" quieter tone of "merr, merrrrr, merr".

Dh swears dn wasn't this much trouble as a child & his dog used to just sit on the sofa or lie in its bed.

He's had roast chicken breast chopped up & three gourmet pouches so far today, how miserable can he really be?.

Or most likely we are our Cats pets!

Ollivander84 · 11/01/2018 18:00

All. Day. Long
Meow. Howl. Meow. When that fails he starts with the helllllllooo and ma-ma. Or chirping at me

VeganIan · 11/01/2018 18:23

Mine has been doing the "Did you know it's raining outside" mew all day, interspersed with the "it's still fucking raining outside, you utter arse, why haven't you made it stop?" yowl and the death stare, which can only be translated as "you loser, can't even stop the rain can you, useless twat"

HarrietKettleWasHere · 11/01/2018 18:25

Mine does have a very unsavoury habit of wolfing it down in seconds and then throwing it right back up (might well be leftover from her days as an unwanted before we got her) so she has to have small portions. She's not the skinny scrap she was....in fact she's ahem quite a curvacious lady these days...

But honestly, you'd think we had her on the 5:2 the way she creates.

WindyWednesday · 11/01/2018 18:30

Mine shouts at me all the time. I opened the window so he could hop out and get some sun, he went out and then announced his return by loudly shouting at me.

Then when I am eating he shouts that he is hungry too. He’s been fed and is a fatso.

If I ignore his shouts I get a biff.

PuppyMonkey · 11/01/2018 18:39

We had a cat once who would say "mow wow" every time he entered the room. Sounded just like "hello." Grin

Ollivander84 · 11/01/2018 18:57

Ollie stands outside screaming. I get texts off the neighbour "your cat is shouting hello again" Blush

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/01/2018 19:00

One of mine, fat Zazzy is, he does it because he wants to be picked up, he loves it.
If you could get a baby sling for him he'd be in his element.

MooChops89 · 11/01/2018 19:29

Our boy is a whinge bag - runs around chirping and howls when we dare to shut any door on him - especially HIS bathroom where he likes to sit in the bath and admire himself in the twisty plug thing. Howls to go out, open the door and he sets himself on the sofa and falls asleep while I freeze. So leave the kitchen window open instead and he jumps out and sits by the door moaning to be let in Hmm

His sister is a lot quieter, just does a very cute, demanding little "mrow!" When she comes in from outside every 5 mins for a cuddle and to check we haven't moved Grin

Guess who walked us to the chippy tonight Smile

Balls no she turned her nose up!

Crispmonster1 · 11/01/2018 22:51

Mine chirrup too. He is a total whinger. He appears when everyone is in the kitchen. Asks for his food. I put food down. He starts eating then my youngest crawls over and starts patting him, taking the biscuits etc. Cat walks away disgusted (and still hungry). I remove food. Everyone else leaves kitchen and cat is no where to be seen. Couple of hours later, everyone comes into kitchen again as does the cat. He meows for food, I put it down, baby crawls over, tips up food, cat walks off disgusted, I remove plate... repeat about 6 times during the day and that’s my life. I have not bonded with this cat. He is ridiculous.

WetsTheVet · 12/01/2018 06:59

Huh? How is that the cats fault?

HarrietKettleWasHere · 12/01/2018 07:14

Crisp I feel a bit sorry for your cat.

I'd be whinging if a baby tipped over my food too.

Crisp I feel a bit sorry for your cat!

I'd be whinging if a baby constantly tipped over my food, too.

Oh bloody hell!

That did not need to post so many times Blush

Clandestino · 12/01/2018 07:25

One of mine complains when I don't spot him and leave him get all wet and freezing at the kitchen door, waiting to be let in.
They have a fully functioning and always open cat flap just three meters away but it disappears into a black hole when we are at home.
He always tells me of his misunderstandings and arguments with other cats too (i.e. he has beaten the shit out of them and they still intrude in his territory).
The other one complains when she's hungry which is always when she's not asleep.

Broken11Girl · 12/01/2018 07:36

Oh yes, Madam BrokenCat can whinge. She generally wants attention or I've dared to disturb her from sleep. She's generally very vocal - we definitely have conversations.
Cat sling Grin she'd love that.

BulletFox · 12/01/2018 07:37

Crisp I was worried about the cat. Can you not keep the kids out of the way of his bowl when he's trying to eat?

Weedsnseeds1 · 12/01/2018 15:58

Mine doesn't whinging at all, but he does give a running commentary of everything he's doing " here I am, I've been out, I'm back now, oh look, it's my ball, I hit it, I chase it, I hit it hard, I lost it, oh look, Mousie, I pounce, I throw in the air. Fire's lit, I like the fire, I'll lie in front of it, no I won't, I'll get up again, oh, there's the ball, I hit it...."

goforkyourself · 13/01/2018 13:50

My poor elderly tabby whinges to me every evening when I get out of the shower (it's our only alone time) She complains that nobody loves her, cares about her or understands what a TERRIBLE life she's had. I apologise to her for ruining her life by having the temerity to allow young upstarts into HER house. She gives me this Hmm face and wanders off, chunnering in disgust Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 13/01/2018 14:08

What Harriet said avoids the temptation to post this four times.

But in all seriousness let the poor cat eat in peace and keep small children away until they understand more about cats. I just have this nasty feeling that if poor beleaguered puss strikes out she will get the blame.
