What a way to spend Christmas Eve!

At the emergency vets. Harry was running around the living room, slipped on the laminate and hurt his leg. On a normal Sunday I’d have watched him until tomorrow and taken him to the vet but because of Christmas we thought we’d better take him.

The vet put him on the floor to get him to walk but he just sat there looking at me. He then turned around, took one look at the table and jumped up onto it! The vet looked at me as if to say ‘what’s wrong with him?’ She gave him a pain killing injection so he’s been stoned all afternoon (he had to have opioids rather than loxicom as she was worried about his kidneys) and he’s hobbling a bit. The vet also mentioned his gums were slightly inflamed but she wasn’t concerned so I’ll give his vets a call in the new year.

I’m nearly £200 poorer to be told my cat is fine but what can you do?!

Oh no! But exactly, what can you do? Grin

Weedsnseeds1 · 24/12/2017 22:53

Oh no, the old fraud, but you can't risk it can you?
Fingers crossed he doesn't try and choke himself on turkey bones and tinsel tomorrow!

Oh Harry what are you doing to your humans?

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2017 01:59

Harry...........! Glad he's ok though. My teenagehood cat kept sneezing so the vet said he probably had a blade of grass stuck up his nose. 1 expensive anaesthetic later and no grass to be found!

He’s asleep on the bed at the moment but he seems to be ok. He’s limping a bit when he walks but he doesn’t seem too worried.

I’ve got a feeling he might milk it so I’ll be making sure he limps with the same leg!

Aww he's so gorgeous. Milk it for all it's worth harry!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 25/12/2017 12:40

Oh Harry!!!!!! Nothing like the threat of the vet to produce a cure!

He's slept most of the day which DH assures me is normal! When he gets up he's hobbling around but he doesn't seem to be too bad. If he's still limping on Wednesday I'll get an appointment with his own vet and hopefully she'll give him some loxicom. If we had some I'd chance giving him some but unfortunately we had to throw it out as it was out of date.

He's managed to stay out of trouble so far though, he just rubbed around his new catnip mackerel rather than chasing it round!

It looks as though we’re back to the vet tomorrow as he’s still limping. It’s not all the time though, and he can use his scratching post so I’m not sure whether he’s playing me but I don’t want to take a chance and be back at the vet over the weekend!

He looks sorry for himself and I feel bad for him Sad

Oh no. I hope he's ok.

I have spent over £350 in December in the vets with my little sods, firstly old 3 legged cat couldn't stand properly and being about 16 we rushed him to emergency vets at 8pm for £170 and he was fine, check up at normal vets this week was another £40! (Not insured as too old) then one of my others decided to bring some rotten old raw chicken out of someone's food caddy bin to eat and then threw up all over the place, never seen anything like it, it covered the house. Trip to vets with meds £70, then 2 weeks later same cat couldn't put any weight on one paw so back to vets another £70 and he was fine literally after 1 tablet and 1 dose of medicine. (Excess on insurance is £60!) go on mat leave next week so hoping it's all out the way now!

Weedsnseeds1 · 26/12/2017 20:16

Poor poppet. Hope it's bruised pride and nothing else.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 27/12/2017 14:49

It looks as though he’s damaged his shoulder. The vet has given him loxicom and he’s got to go back for x rays if it doesn’t improve by next week.

I started another thread about this, but on a happy note his kidney readings are back to normal! The vet took blood tests to see whether it was safe to give him loxicom and I think she was shocked at the result, as were we!

That's a good shock about the blood results though. Hope the shoulder improves soon.
