Just took on an unexpected & deaf cat

Was thinking of an after Christmas cat when I was sent a link by a friend for a cat on gumtree.

She is 12 months old. Already had a litter and deaf. She lived down the road from me so I went to see her. Ended up bringing her home of course.

She was terrified of the other cats there and was hissing and trying to run from them.

Got her home and she is SO chilled. She is constantly purring and jumping up for cuddles.

She had fleas so I went to PAH got frontline and a drontal wormer.
Bed, bowls etc...

I've never had a deaf cat before. I keep shouting her Blush

She's very skinny (owner had her kitten) so I got her some kitten food to help her gain weight. Any other suggestions for this?

I'm going to take her for a check up after Christmas but she seems fine apart from a bit thin

She also has one green eye and one blue.

She's just exploring at the moment but just wanted to share my kitty news and hear from any other deaf cat owners.

Vet said I can give her the advantage in 5-7 days if there are still fleas.

I'm pretty sure she is 100% deaf. I shouted her name last night behind her to see and she didn't even twitch.

You're so lucky! I have an all white cat with one green and one blue eye and she is deaf. She is so so special to us and is the most fabulous affectionate little bean. On the plus side being deaf means that a lot of daily things such as the vacuum cleaner won't annoy her! I have a lot of cats but deaf ones are extra special!

She’s gorgeous Smile

She’ll need sunscreen on her nose and ears during the summer. I rescued a white cat out of horrible circumstances (was only meant to get her safe, of course she never left Blush ) and every vet she’s seen has laboured this point.

I also have a deaf white cat! I've found that they're much clingier and more affectionate than other cats I've had - and he does tend to get very scared of strangers so I'd suggest somewhere safe that she is allowed to go to hide if she wants. Under the bed, under the sofa etc.
I've also found that my deaf cat plays differently. He loves the laser pen and a food ball that he bats around. I've bought light up balls which he loves too. Basically, visual toys rather than things with bells or crinkle noises. He does yowl a lot, his shouts are very different and much, much louder!!
My vets have all said never to let my cat outside unattended because his balance isn't great and because he is at a bigger risk of getting run over. I've also heard about the sunscreen, make sure it's pet safe stuff! although I have never had to use it as I don't have a garden.

Hope she settles in soon!

What a gorgeous cat. We have a beautiful white puss, and every single person who sees her/a photo asks if she is deaf. (She can in fact hear the opening of a Felix Goody Bag from two streets away.)
