Don’t know what to do? :(

My wee 4 year old girl was diagnosed with non treatable breast cancer about 8 months ago, which has spread to her stomach, lungs and lymph nodes.

She was fine until about 2 weeks ago and she has pretty much stopped eating. She will eat a few bites if you hand feed her lick the gravy off a couple of pouches per day but that’s about it. She has lost quite a lot of weight and the tumour is almost the length of her undercarriage.

BUT she still seems happy enough. She is very affectionate and loves to sit on my knee while purring and kneading me with her paws ect
She’s also still happy enough to go out twice a day for 15 minutes or so.

I spoke to the vet over the phone but I am reluctant to take her there as she absolutely hates going in her carrier / the car, to the point where she starts shedding fur and often makes a mess in her box.
The Vet says that usually people know when their pets have had enough, but sometimes they don’t.

Part of me is worried I’m being selfish and should maybe think about getting her PTS but then the other part thinks if she still seems happy enough? I just don’t know what to do and really don’t want to put her through t trip to the vets unless I absolutely HAVE to.

Does your visit do home visits in this situation?

It might be worth asking anyway for when the time does come.... least stressful for her and you

Sorry for you in this situation xxxx

When I know the right time has come I’ll definitely get the vet to come to the house to get her PTS, I’m just not sure that time is now? My heart is saying if she’s still showing affection and going outside then she still has a short time left. But my head is saying, if she’s 90% stopped eating......

It's a so difficult to decide. My vet told me I'd know when the time had come but I couldn't relate to that. She was right though. He was PTS in August at the age of 20. I did visit the vets many times in the last month of his life, because I needed reassurance and guidance. When he no longer got up to eat and spent most of his time sleeping, with little communication, I knew he was ready to go, even though I wasn't Flowers
