Do you pay the cat sitter double for the second cat?

I never have any luck with cat sitters it stresses me out so much. For some reason they were both arsed after the last cattery stay and it was only two weeks ago plus the weather is so bad I cancelled their Xmas stay. My neighbour will do the morning. I went onto the cat flat site and the only lady available was charging £40 four four visits that’s just feeding the. In the evening, now she’s come back saying it’s £80 because theirs two! The luxury cat hotel is £100. I regret cancelling it now I just thought I’d try them in their own flat for a change. She needs to know today what do you think?

It depends. Some charge per visit. Some per cat. What about the outside two/three?

And once a day is fine really. You could leave a huge bowl/bag of dried food and a washing up bowl full of water so they don't go hungry.

We just pay per visit, number of cats doesn't make a difference. I think doubling the cost is unreasonable, she only making the same journey for both cats. Could understand a bit extra but not double

Could you get a timed cat feeder so that your neighbour can just go in the morning without the need for an evening visit?

That's ridiculous. I pay £40 for my two dogs to go to home boarding for two days and one night. £80 to feed two cats is ridiculous.

I know! The bloody website is useless not one person has put their availability she’s the only one that did respond so she knows she’s got me proper. She said she stays for an hour and plays with them which is what’s tempting me if indeed she does do that. They crave people and as much as my neighbour loves them she won’t hang around. It’s a lot of money when you think the hotel charges £20 a day including food and wildlife to look at. It’s the thought of chasing them and carting them off into a taxi that’s putting me off.

TCN I’ve brought the carrier closer to my door and I’ve kind of put the food under my plants. I feel dreadful for them and hope they are in a garage somewhere. My neighbour will put food out once a day. I need to buy a bigger bag is there anything you would suggest? I’m puttin wet down as well but can only really afford own brands.

You mean a bigger bag of dried food for the outside cats? I wouldn't worry too much. As long as it's food. Just look for offers. And of course make sure the water bowl isn't frozen over.

£80 is really really steep. My cat sitter charges double for holidays e.g. Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but that makes it £14 per visit (2 cats indoors, 2 chickens outdoors...). She only visits in the morning and only for 30 min for all the animals, but my cats couldn’t care less for strangers so it works for us. This is in West Yorkshire.

I know my sister has an absolutely nightmare trying to find either cat sitter or cat hotel in Sheffield where she lives. It’s so variable across the country. I hope you find something!

We're taking ours with us, but when we were looking at catsitters, catinaflat had plenty of people around at Christmas only charging between £8-15, and that was for 2 visits per day.

Yes but when you go into it to book it they either ignore your request or write back saying they aren’t available, it’s not very good at all. I just hope this one knows how to empty the litter last time she said she had a blonde moment and I came back to find my litter locker over brimming with poo!

My sis had exactly this problem. Hardly anyone got back to her and the ones that did made up lame excuses as to why they couldn’t help. The best one was “oh you have two cats, I don’t know if I can handle that... I’ll think about it and get back to you.

In your shoes I think my sis (and my parents!) would pay, provided there isn’t another poop mountain!

Could you not ask around for a reliable teenager looking to make a bit of money? If all she is doing is feeding them and staying for half an hour I'm sure you could find someone cheaper.

Yep why not ask about for reliable teenagers who do babysitting, sure they would be happy to spend a bit of time playing with cats and much easier money than small children.

That does sound like a lot, but I suppose if they have a fair distance to travel, and petrol costs, then I can understand charging that amount. I'm sure I've seen much cheaper rates advertised though.

If you're in NE Wiltshire I'd be charging £10 per visit, no matter how many cats (unless there's so many that feeding them all would take more than 30 minutes LOL!). £20 for Bank Holidays. Is this Tailster btw? They look like a bunch of shysters.
