I lost my beautiful cat Ruby in September. She was 8 and hit by a car and according to the vet she died instantly. She was the only one of my cats to go adventuring. She had sense as I adopted her from the streets where she had been surviving after neglect and abuse from former owners. I had her for nearly 4 wonderful years. She was my best friend and so loving.
I have two other cats, the younger girl is a Ruby lookalike but thankfully they don't leave the house and garden.
Recently Facebook showed me last years memories and Ruby featured in so many photos. I started crying thinking about my loss again.
Lots of things can make me sad and think about her.
I have a memorial bench and light a red candle for her.
When do you think I will stop feeling like this? I m sure people think I should be over it by now but I m really not. This will obviously be my first Christmas in years without Ruby.

@snork that’s horrendous how can people live with themselves after doing something like that?
Go for it with the posters!

I lost my girl 7 months ago, very suddenly. She survived being hit by a car, but was too badly injured and I had to have her PTS. I still agonise over the decision, but there was no hope for her. I still tear up when I look at pictures of her.
My 4 month old kitten is currently purring like crazy laid on my shoulder, but he'll never replace her. I still wish she was here. Although she would have hated the kitten, she was a grumpy cow, but she was mine :(

Seems a lot of us have lost some beautiful companions. And I m definitely going ahead with my campaign to lower the speed limit #slowdownforRuby

I had a lovely, but very cross, little tortie years ago who was killed by a speeding car. It didn't stop and my x found her dead in next doors front garden. Devastation doesn't cover it and the rage I felt was beyond belief. My old lad who was PTS a few months back, who I mentioned up thread, was hit by a car when he was very young, that didn't stop. I heard the screech and ran outside only to find the lovely paper boy looking for him. He'd seen the car hit him and I'd seen the car speed off. Luckily he wasn't killed, but was badly hit in the face and his tooth was chipped. The road I was living on at the time was a rat run, and every day for a month, I looked out at the same time to see if that car drove past. It never did. I was ready to let him/her have it. I wish you all the best with your campaign. Bloody speeding drivers.

Good on you @snorkmaiden68

I can’t imagine how distressing it must be to find your cat after a car incident.
