What insurance provider do you use?

Petplan have just sent through renewal paperwork and have raised what I'm paying by £150 PA (that's £1300 for 2 young healthy Burmese cats). It's the highest cover plan with dental and high payouts for treatment. Seems very excessive rise. They won't lower the price (I've tried). Live in West Essex.

What do you pay and who do you use? Would you recommend them? I know vets like petplan which is probably why they have a monopoly and can charge what they fancy...

I'm still with petplan, pay about £18.50 a month but I'm in that terrifying situation of what happens if I leave them as I pay for the life plan?! Confused

I pay £24 each for moggie one year olds with petplanlife and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My vet is Medivet and they seem to work with pet plan already this year onenof then would’ve cost me £270 for d and v. My friend uses the same as me and her young one has just had an op which came to over three grand and they paid the vet direct. We aren’t changing. It covers dental as well.

Blimey I wonder why my premium is so high.

Is it more expensive for breeds?

I pay about £6 a month to Animal Friends for their basic lifetime cover policy for one moggie. Never claimed on it so far though. Heard loads of really good things about petplan but they quoted a full 3 times the monthly cost for the nearest equivalent policy of the one I have and I couldn't justify that.
As the risks of needing to claim increase with cat age, I was wondering whether to switch to petplan in a couple of years if the cat hasn't developed anything chronic by then.

Tesco. Had too huge claims for my princesses this year and one has just been diagnosed With cardiomyopathy, so more to come. Always helpful and payed without quibble.

Thanks all.

I'll look around and check small print.

We're with petplan for our moggy. She's 11 now and we pay about £22 a month but have made quite a few claims (nothing chronic). I won't be changing from petplan even when the premiums go up as we've never had any issue with a claim and their level of cover is great. We went with John Lewis for the dogs (pet plan was quite a bit more ) as their policy was good. Didn't really look much at changing the cat as happy with petplan for her but might be worth checking John Lewis if you're looking to change. I'm guessing you might be paying more for pedigrees.
