Introducing a new kitten

Hi All, we adopted a 6 month old boy kitten 6 weeks ago and having made the mistake of not unfollowing the charity's Facebook page have fallen for another kitten looking for a new home (we had 2 cats before so 2 feels right). We're going to see her later and both are used to other cats from their foster homes but would love any advice anyone has on introducing new kitten to our existing kitten. Thanks.

I ve done this twice with older cat and new cats. Keep the new one in a room on her own for a week or so with litter tray, food, water and toys and while you are there gradually introduce both cats under supervision (there may be some hissing etc). Stroke both cats alternately so you transfer each other s scent and wipe a soft flannel round new cat s face gently then wipe around house in areas old cat can smell it. This also makes new cat feel at home when you let her roam around the house.
It will be a while with some cats but they should start cautiously accepting each other in a few weeks.
I m nearly 2 months into ownership of new kitten and she's now allowed in the garden in the daytime. Older cat will meow at me if she can't see the kitten (8 months now) outside till I call her in.
They are not best friends yet but tolerate each other. The last time I did this it took around 8 months for a full close bond to develop but that was 2 adults. Kittens might be easier. Good luck with your lovely new babies 😊

Thanks for your helpful reply. New girl is now with us and I've been transferring scent using a sock (didn't have a flannel) this evening. She's been in a separate room but once we've tried the sock trick over the next couple of days we'll try gradually introducing them. Reassuring to hear a successful story too so thanks.
