How much do your cats eat?

We've just got a rescue cat. She's about 1 year old and very petite.
I'm not sure how much to feed her. She seems hungry all the time ie climbing into the fridge everytime it's opened, eating up any crumbs she finds on the floor etc.
I started her on 1/2 a pouch at breakfast and at dinner time with cat biscuits always available. She gobbles tbe pouch food in seconds and snacks on the biscuits, but never empties the biscuit plate. I've upped the pouches to 3/4 each morning and evening as she seems so hungry.
She was found living on the streets in North London with her 2 kittens so has been without regular food for a while before being rescued. I'm not sure if I am under feeding, if she is just eating as much as she can get out of habit and previous hunger, or if this is just how cats are.
I don't want her hungry but I also don't want to over feed her.
I need advice please!

You need to weigh her and work out how much she needs. My 1 year old cat has a pouch in the morning and another in the evening and biscuits available. Cats will play you!

My 2 were having 2 pouches per day each (1 morning and 1 evening) with dry food left out. They have been having a wee sneaky extra half pouch each this week as they were acting like they were hungry. There isn't much in the wet pouches as they are mostly water.

My 2 boys are also 1 year old

I've just had a look at her health paperwork and she is 3.7kg.

Mine are 3.6kg and 4.3kg so quite similar to yours.

Thanks everyone. I'll give her 2 pouches a day and see how that goes. If she's still acting hungry I'll know she's trying her luck. I suspect she had to do a lot of that to keep herself and her kittens alive.
She's adapting well to her new life of luxury though! Grin

I've been giving our 5 months old 2 pouches a day with dry food also available but he is convinced this is insufficient Hmm and is raiding bins and sandwiches and cereal bowls It says something like 'up to 6 pouches a day' on the box of kitten food. I think he's read it Grin Not that he's hungry enough to eat the dry food though.

The quality and ingredients of the food will be relevant; they fill up at different rates on meat versus the tasty junk food in some brands. Mine would definitely be hungry on one pouch of most of our food per day (though infinite dry food is a good deal if they like it - mine can't regulate as they've had some hard times so I don't let them graze).

If she was THAT hungry, she'd be eating all the dry food as well. Mine have only 1.5 pouches of wet a day between them and dry ad lib, though being indoor cats they need fewer calories (their dry is special indoor formula). They are always desperate to get to their wet at feeding times, though tend to just eat about half straight away & the rest over time - I'm pretty sure it's the tastiness factor of the wet that they are wanting rather than hunger.

BTW they are definitely not underweight by any means, though not THAT fat (yet).
