Does having a cat make you lazy?

Since getting Miss Furry Mittens, I have noticed how much longer it takes me to get out of bed plus I spend way more time doing nothing but sit on the sofa. All instances with a ball of cat on me of course.

Currently trapped in armchair unable to move in case I wake her. At this rate I’m never going to get anything done ever again!

I've shared this before but here is DW completely incapussitated (when we had four cats). How could you disturb them?

ForgiveMeFatherForIHaveGinned · 08/11/2017 19:08

My DH often accuses me of being lazy when I ask him to make a brew / fetch me something because I can’t move as the cat is draped on me.

I always say I’m not lazy, merely considerate of the fluffy one’s needs. And I genuinely do feel guilty when she’s all curled up and I have to shift her!

Want2beme · 08/11/2017 20:29

Not currently trapped as she's now snoozing on the fire warming chair, but was trapped for an hour and a half this morning. I get really twitchy, but feel terrible if I move them.

Grumpy that's priceless. Your DW certainly knows her place in cativity.

That is one magnificent cat want2

Want2beme · 08/11/2017 23:50

Rick she has her moments! She's now a big lump on the bed, under her blanket, making biscuits. Good night.

I’m jealous too my Bailey isn’t a lap cat at all 😭

BulletFox · 09/11/2017 09:31

Yeah mine's not a lap cat either until pretty recently.

She's stressing me out a bit now she's suddenly switched because you just can't move, you feel guilty for disturbing them.

Last night I wanted to get up so had to gently shift her off of my leg. She got all riled and went to sleep in a cardboard box

Want2beme · 09/11/2017 09:55

Slinkymalinky1 ahhh. Entice her with some treats on your lap and she might stay.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/11/2017 10:03

Jules - well that's it. That baby is staying in there permanently. You can not deprive your cat of his chin rest.

Slinky - that's a flat cat! I don't mean to be mean, but no one was actually driving a truck through your house were they?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/11/2017 10:04

Broken girl - about the German word - I love it! Comment of the week so far for me.

susurration · 09/11/2017 11:21

I got a cat because I'm lazy! I couldn't be arsed walking a dog twice a day, so we didn't get one...

So Suscat sitting on us and meaning I unfortunately can't do the housework is just a convenient excuse now, because it never got done before anyway!

BulletFox · 09/11/2017 12:37

sus I like to meet a fellow slob

Llamacorn · 09/11/2017 12:49

Aww I love this thread!
Our cat isn't so much a lap cat, as a get in your face until you cuddle her to sleep cat! She lies with the dc when they go to bed and when they're asleep she sneaks down and cuddles to sleep on me for the night ❤️ never have the heart to move her.

I would be lazier without cats. My employers start poking me to get up and fed them at 6.30am and starting the long hard stares at 5pm.
They expect the bed to be made in preparation for their return to them bedroom at 7.20am after their post breakfast wees.
I am required to move furniture to enable them to play with the vermin they have acquired in the manner which they prefer.
And finally they require me to come to be promptly each evening get myself settled in the bed correctly to accommodate their required sleeping positions.

Slinkymalinky1 · 09/11/2017 17:17

Spartacus, he does look rather flat doesn’t he! Here’s another of him more fluffed up

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/11/2017 22:26

I agree with Rick, he's lovely (flat or fluffed) - they all are!

CantChoose · 10/11/2017 20:28

I am currently sat underneath a sleeping cat while husband frantically cleans before a house viewing tomorrow.
He is being cross with me but not enough to move CantCat...

Are you wearing grumpy cat pj's crazycatgal? 😂😂

Cute pjs

Doyouthinktheyknow · 09/05/2024 21:54

I’m also very jealous of all these fabulous lap cats. Closest I have got is Dcat lying on the sofa next to me, that has only taken 2.5 years🤣

To be fair it was a one off, she waits until I am off to work normally to lay on the sofa😻

Dcat has her issues but she is the best thing ever and we all adore her.

I can't believe I posted on this thread in 2017 and one of the cats photographed is still sitting on DW in the same seat 😹

You are so lucky! Our cat is not much of a lapcat. I think 5 minutes is the most she's slept on my lap. And she has a thing about peeing on her bed (with us in it) so bedroom is now out of bounds for her.
