Yep, they're pissed.

My two little kitties (4mo old female and male) are due in for their spay/neutering tomorrow. With that comes nil by mouth doesn't it?

They're pissed already. It's only been an hour and a half! Come on now!

I am getting the sad eyes and refusals to let me pet them. I am also getting the odd pat on the shoulder by my little lady, reminding me that it's time for dinner.

On a serious note though, did anyone feel nervous the night before their spay & neutering? Heeeelp.

Ha. Well now that I’ve realised they get human omeprazole for d and v there will be no stopping me I’ll be setting up surgery.

Loads of us seem to be nurses with cats! Well I assume everyone one that talks about going to work on a night is

Toddlerteaplease · 26/10/2017 15:04

I found it completely surreal when Snorg was poorly and was on Morphine and Ketamine infusions as our spinal patients all are. And cefuroxime and metronidazole. I wanted to take her to work and pop her in a cot!

EachandEveryone · 26/10/2017 19:21

I know I had to sign a form saying she could have human drugs I was mentally working out how much and whether I could buy them over the counter

Toddlerteaplease · 26/10/2017 22:19

Ha ha I asked how many ml/kg of fluid she was having. 5ml apparently!

dementedpixie · 26/10/2017 22:21

My 2 boys never had cones either and never really bothered about the incision

McBounty · 26/10/2017 23:12

They're making me super anxious tonight.

They're running, jumping, rough play fights, skidding across our (laminate) flooring etc. She's jumping super high. How can I prevent that? Because it's impossible.

She vomited a bit of white foam earlier. That panicked me too. Ugh. These babies are killing me.

It’s been more than 24 hours now have the cones come off? They sound fine.

McBounty · 26/10/2017 23:58

I've taken them off, yes.

I am just worried for our girl because her brother kicks her wound a lot when they play fight (obviously not on purpose) and it really gives me anxiety.

The vet won't be pleased tomorrow when they go for their checks. He wanted their cones left on for 10 days. He's going to think I'm one of those irresponsible pet owners, I am sure.

I have heard of females having cones but not males as their surgery isn't as invasive. 10 days sounds a bit OTT

EachandEveryone · 27/10/2017 12:52

Omg mine asked if I wanted to buy one I said no and that was it!

McBounty · 27/10/2017 15:37

Post op check was done today. Our boy was discharged as he's super well.

Our little lady is still recovering perfectly well. She didn't say much about them not wearing their collar, apart from that she advices we put hers on at night time when we aren't watching her. I still don't think I'm going to though. I haven't seen her bother with her incision at all. 😊

My two girl kittens were both spayed two weeks ago and the vet said they rarely give out the collars any more as they're so awkward for them. No one told us to stop them playing / fighting / jumping on furniture, tbh i have no idea how we could have stopped them anyway....
The vet just said to keep an eye out for them licking each other's wounds (ewww) which they thankfully haven't and they've healed up beautifully so don't worry!

I'm late to this thread but my friends tiny dog was spayed and was really distressed by the cone of shame, she ended up wearing a baby's popper vest. It's probably not ideal for a cat, but a Jack Russell with attitude in a flowery vest was hilarious.
