Found a kitten, what's next?

My DH was out for a walk and found this tiny, very skinny kitten in the hedge on the side of a country road away from any houses. It's very wet here and the kitten was soaked wet so he brought it home.
Where do we go from here? How do we feed and look after it? How do we try and find the owner?

It's harder and harder to get cute kitten pics as she's getting bolder and braver by the minute!

Congrats OP

My kitten was a skinny little foundling - now she’s a miniature tiger! Grin

Kitten has owned you....happens to all of us.

Have you got a name yet?

gemandjule · 17/10/2017 16:54

The kids want Mrs Norris. Apparently a cat from Harry Potter? We already have a dog named after a character in Harry Potter so seems reasonable!

TheLongRider · 17/10/2017 16:56

Are you sure it's Mrs. Norris and not Mr. Norris?

NameChange30 · 17/10/2017 16:59

It's Mrs
harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Mrs_Norris

gemandjule · 17/10/2017 17:00

No idea but if it turns out to be Mr Norris I guess we can go with a subtle name change!

X-post. I assumed you were wondering about the sex of our kitten. The cat in Harry Potter is definitely Mrs Norris

We found a kitten in very similar circs. She lived to 19! Prepare for a long and happy enslavement.

Google Jackson Galaxy for car behaviour (and cat owner behaviour) tips.

NameChange30 · 17/10/2017 17:05

Ah of course that's what TheLongRider meant, I'm being an idiot! Sorry Blush

KittyLover91 · 17/10/2017 17:05

Awww you lucky thing!

I find it impossible to stop mine climbing on the table and work tops, he thinks he owns the place the bloody great beast!

TiesThatBindMe · 17/10/2017 17:24

So cute. Love all the photos.

TheLongRider · 17/10/2017 19:08

Ah yes, I meant sex of cat!

As regards getting onto surfaces, usually I grab the cat/kitten firmly and place it on the ground with a sharp "No!". It usually takes repeated trips, like sleep training toddlers. For older cats a sharp spray of water from a plant mister/sprayer works well. It won't necessarily stop them from jumping up when your back is turned!

Plenty of cuddles and company for the kitten and you'll have a very sociable cat. Toys are easy, crumbled ball of tin foil or paper, piece of string or shoelace.

You're probably sorted for a litter tray by now but a plant tray or even a deep sided baking tray in an emergency with some earth from the garden until you get some actual cat litter will be fine.

Enjoy the company!

Stupidly delicious.

whitehandledkitchenknife · 19/10/2017 22:54

Whereabouts (roughly) in the country are you? I've just been checking our local pet search site and a lost cat post has come up with a photo of a very, very similar looking kitten.

thecatneuterer · 19/10/2017 22:56

If you want to post a photo of his/her bits I can sex it for you.

sashh · 20/10/2017 06:40

I know I'm a bit late to this but Squeeeeee.

'Cat milk' is expensively packaged long life goats milk.

Mrs Norris is a fine name

completely off topic but one of my foster kittens was given the name Hermione, she was rehomed to a family who already had a ginger boy called Weasley - it was meant to be.
