What is a reasonable price for a kitten?

I have just been to se a lovely kitten but the owner wants 180 for her. After some discussion she came down to £150, for a lovely kitten, but she is still a moggy, not a pedigree! They have two cats which they breed every year and sell the kittens. I am fairly appalled at this, but have not had any success getting a kitten from a rescue. Is this totally over the top?

I've seen a few recently that are still under a year, but the mothers of this years kittens, the kittens have been rehomed and they're now looking for homes.

That's what I'd be looking at if I was looking for a cat... I'm not I just follow rescues on Facebook, lol

Ring cats protection mine was £75. They dont always put them on their sites. Its up to. If you are in love with this particular one it will be hard to walk away always wondering where she ended up. I totally get it.

Rescues charge around 75 for a kitten at least in my experience.

When I found a litter of stray kittens and was finding homes for them, I charged 75. It wasn’t to make money, instead it was to make sure that the people who got the kitten weren’t looking for cheap kittens to abuse/breed from/otherwise mistreat. The price needs to be high enough that only serious people with the intention of giving the kitten a good home will take them. 150 is high but it could be an attempt to look after the welfare of the cat.

I donated all of the money from the 6 kittens to my local Cats Protection.
