He's gone *worried*

We've had Jupiter (one year old neutered male) for three weeks now, and today is the first day we've let him outside. He looked around the garden with us all this morning, then when we went out at around 10am he was inside. Cat flap was open - when we came back at lunchtime he was gone, and he still has not returned.

We are trying not to worry, but eeek. Cat flap is obviously still open, the back door is ajar while we're still up, food is in his bowl... We back on to woods so I imagine the outside world is very interesting for a cat who's been cooped up for weeks, but arrrrgh we want him home! Assuming he thinks it's home here :(

He's a very confident boy, so maybe that's why he's not back. Our last cats were ancient homebody females, so this is very strange to us.

Any advice?

We'll leave the cat flap open for him, I think. Hopefully now he's been able to have a good run around he will check in a bit more often. Three weeks shut in with us, and two at the cat shelter beforehand, I think he has been suffering with cabin fever.

No bottle of fizz, but with any luck a decent night's sleep!

Honestly I think he's probably safer out at night than during the day. We live in a very quiet area, traffic is almost non-existent at night. I'm not worried about badgers and foxes, he's fast and a good climber so can keep clear.

We've got the cat killer at large around where I live, so there is no way my cat is allowed out overnight.
Sad

abbsisspartacus · 24/09/2017 08:24

Is he snipped?

PosiePootlePerkins · 24/09/2017 08:47

Oh Dave how horribleSad We don't have any local reports as yet (Hampshire) but I still keep mine in, I just couldn't live with myself if anything happened. I wish they'd catch that evil bastard.

No cat killers here other than traffic, as far as I know. Fortunately our cul-de-sac backing on to woods and fields is pretty safe from that point of view.

Where we previously lived one of our neighbours had a dog which killed 2-3 cats, it was awful. Eventually the police got involved and now the dog has to wear a muzzle when out. I think they insisted the garden was effectively dog proofed too. We were so glad our cats at that time were elderly and spent 99% of their time indoors.

If that's a question to me, abbs, try reading the first line of my OP again.

Yes it's really awful. Seems he's moved on to foxes now too.. leaves the mutilated bodies near their homes for the owners to find.. sick fucker Angry

Some people are really quite twisted. It makes me wonder what has gone wrong in their lives to make them choose to do such awful things.

Seems he has become nationwide with his murdering cats and foxes. He is clearly clever and has managed to evade CCTV.

maamalady · 24/09/2017 14:24

Good grief, that's just horrible. Poor cats :(

Jupiter, by the way, has been in and out a few times today, very reassuring! He is clearly happy to be allowed out (as are we being able to open the doors and windows downstairs without worrying about him escaping).

All the hallmarks of a psychopath.

Hoping he isn't intending to move onto humans next.

Yes..apparently the Met Police have a team searching for this piece of crap. Hope he gets the book thrown at him.
