What do you pay for insurance

Just out of pure noseyness. I inherited a cat off my mums dysfunctional neighbour, shes calico mixed breed, guesstimated 5-6 and we had her spayed. We pay 15 a month with petplan, there were cheaper quotes but went with them on advice that they were good at paying out and worth the extra money. My friend says she pays 3 a cat but had them from kittens and also has life time cover for illnesses.

£24 ish for 2 kittens with Tesco. Pet plan quoted more than that per kitten so went with cheaper option

I pay a tiny amount under that each month, also with Petplan. I have lifetime cover, and £4k vet fees cover per year each - they are indoors only, so very unlikely to get run over by a car so I didn't go to town on that bit!

Standard domestic cross-breed rescues, now 3 years old.

£43 for two 7 year old Persians. For Tesco top level cover.It's gone up from £28 last year as they both had to huge claims amounting to £10,000 between them. So worth every penny.

I had £7,500 cover and was considering reducing it to a lower level. So glad I didn't!

Monthly, i pay £18 for my 2yo boy, but he has a heart defect.

The other cat I insure through Tesco currently, she's 3 and costs me £9

nothing, please explain this idea of pet insurance? is it in case someone sue's you?

Out2pasture no it's to pay vet bills which can be pretty hefty.

It's in case of illness or injury as vet bills can be pricey

I've yet to see an insurance scheme where the company doesn't profit.

Theu wouldn't run it if they didn't make a profit!

When your beloved cat is poorly the last thing you want to think about us paying huge bills. It's worth every penny!

Yes the companies profit but it's all a gamble. Sometimes you pay but don't use it, other times you get a lot paid out. Like car or home insurance really....

About £7.50 for a 4 year old ginger tom. We 'rescued' him a couple of years ago

Out2Pasture, yes they do make a profit but I'd have struggled with his vet fees over the last 18 months if I hadn't had insurance. I worked out that in my case the insurance has paid out more than I've paid in since we've had him.

I'm with direct line, pay £49/month for 2y/o cat and 4y/o pug. Thought about changing but I've got a claim still in progress for the cat to the tune of £1100, and it is an issue that may recur.
Insurance is well worth it, without it I'd have had to have him PTS, which would have been heartbreaking, and just 6 weeks after my other cat too.

Nothing. Been a multi-cat household (between 2 and 4) for the last 30 years. We've never bothered with cat insurance and it wouldn't have been beneficial to us with any of our cats individually let alone across all eight of our cats to date. All our cats have been moggies and all go outside.

We pay £38 for two 6 year old cats for lifetime cover with Petplan. I used to get a discount as I worked for Allianz but I've left now so paying full price. Would never be without insurance. One infected cat bite cost £695 a few years ago!

I couldn't afford vet bills so have to have insurance. Would really love another cat but things are tight so will have to wait.

£48 for two moggies one. Six months one 15 months. Lifetime cover i cant see a way to reduce it. Id be buggered faced with an unexpected bill.

Can't remember exactly but think it's about £50 for 2 kittens + 1 12 yr old. Directline, lifetime cover.

Wouldn't be without it as have found they are very good at paying out and sadly deceased cat had a lifetime condition - it was great knowing every vet bill was covered for last 2 years of her life. I'd never risk it.

It's going to take 19 years of premiums for the insurance company to recoup what they've spent on my cat!
