I have an elderly lady cat who has basically stopped eating cat food. We found one that she ate with gusto one day - only to refuse it the next. We have about 6 different kinds in the house!

So at the moment I am buying tinned fish (in oil, not brine obvs) and fresh chicken for her, and at the moment she's loving that.

How can I make sure she gets what she needs? Is there any websites that are recommended, because Google is coming up with conflicting advice.

At the moment getting her to eat anything is a win.

I think you can get supplements to add to their food - would she eat that? or would she be like mine who knows immediately if their food has been tampered with

Great idea, thanks - had a google and have found a couple of things that look promising.

As to whether or not she'll eat them.... I can only try!

How are her teeth? Would a pate style be more palatable?

If she likes fresher fare, Thrive's range of wet foods are very much recommended by my fussy little madam. Not cheap for small quantities (though they will send free samples in the post).

I second the pate style - mine love Lily's Kitchen or Applaws. Pricy but often on offer in Pets at Home or on ZooPlus.

Her teeth seem fine (she will try to steal chicken bones given the opportunity), and in among everything else we have tried the pate style, which she does eat more than some others but very half-heartedly. Even thought the tins are small she maybe will get through half of one (if we are lucky).

I'll see if I can find thrive and Lily's kitchen, she's not a fan of applaws. (not a lot of options to buy locally, but will look online for a place that doesn't severely penalise me for living this far north!)

One of mine loves Lily's, one of them loves Applaws so I have to buy both Hmm

You can loads of flavour's of Lily's and it's pretty much always on offer. It's natural, grain-free stuff too.

Went to the vet today and paid over £12 for 6 sachets/tins of food to try - two of them were £1 so the others were £2.50 each!!

Tried one of the £2.50 sachets.... she looked at it like I was trying to poison her... sigh
