Hi everybody.

My cat is pregnant, and around half way through any ideas how to prepare for her giving birth? I've never had a pregnant cat so completely clueless.

No advice but aww cute little sphinx kittens.

Guiltypleasures001 · 12/09/2017 12:32

Let me be the first to say congratulations and of course, no pics then it didn't happen 😉

Orangebird69 · 12/09/2017 12:34

So you've done no research before letting your cat breed? Ffs.

chemenger · 12/09/2017 13:51

You need to talk to your vet. How unfortunate that she got pregnant before you had her neutered, how did that happen?

RubbishMantra · 12/09/2017 16:41

Definitely vets - I'm assuming she's very young if she's become upduffed before you were able to neuter? Vets will now neuter at 4 months so worth remembering when re-homing the kittens.

Quite.

This isn't a cause for celebration. Home breading cos you couldn't be arsed to neuter / fancy some kittens isn't something to be admired.

Oh shhh! And get of my thread with your bullshit Grin the cat escaped!

She was booked to be done today, that's when they said she is already pregnant, anyway helpful advise please on how to prepare for it.

Obviously it would have been far better to have her neutered immediately after her escape but she can still be neutered now. If your usual vet isn't prepared to do it then tomorrow I'd be ringing around other vets to find one who is.

FireBreathingUnicorn · 12/09/2017 22:32

Well I have her and a boy (neutered) already and was actually planning on keeping the kittens,as I have a large enough house and outside built cat kennels which I could also extend without a problem my summer.

would I be crazy to keep the kittens and get her done as soon as they will allow aged or would getting her done really be the best option?

FireBreathingUnicorn · 12/09/2017 22:33

After not aged.

I would certainly have a spay/abort done. If you really do have space for lots more cats there are millions (not an exaggeration) that need homes.

chemenger · 13/09/2017 06:47

When we have very young cats in our rescue who have had kittens they are always very small, it seems to affect their own growth badly. I'm with the catneuterer, for her good I would get her neutered. If you decide not to then plenty of good food, maybe kitten food would be good? Look on the cat protection website for advice on looking after pregnant cats, the breeder who you bought the cat from will know specifically about Sphinxes.

DumbledoresApprentice · 13/09/2017 07:37

My cat is pretty small for her breed. The rescue said she'd been bred too young and that might have affected her growth. The owners took her to the rescue because they had too many cats. They kept some of her kittens and grand-kittens Hmm and she was one too many. She was only two years old. Even pretty, fashionable breeds are ending up in rescues now because there are more of them around. Your cat sounds very young. I'd spare her from all the pain and trouble and get her spayed. You also don't want to end up with more cats than you can manage and sphynx crossbreed cats may not be that easy to rehome if you end up with more than you can keep.

FireBreathingUnicorn · 13/09/2017 08:17

Right today I will get onto the vets, thanks ladies.
