Smelly cat.

14 yr old neutered male housecat.(not housecoat autocorrect) has become a bit niffy, not pooey, or pissy, just ugh. As he loves sleeping on us it would be nice if he didn't stink! He eats Sheba or Cat and fiddle. If it was summer I would bath him (yes, he's that soft). He's been fleaed regularly too. What can I de stink him with?

I would get a vet check. Could be he has gum disease or has stopped grooming due to arthritis.
Petal cleanse are wipes for cats. Meant to reduce allergens for humans. Don't know if they destink.
With both our old cats smelling meant being unwell. Sad

He still grooms ok( falls off the sofa getting to the tricky bits). Did wonder if it could be his teeth or gums, but it's only been the last week.

Definitely worth a vet check. They are a nightmare at hiding pain. Hope he's ok. I had to groom old girl at least once a day. She couldn't.

I'm also guessing a tooth/gum problem. Particularly given his age. Vets this week for him.

Wolfiefan · 09/09/2017 15:51

Neuterer knows her stuff. We once had a cat with gingivitis. The smell was the main symptom.

Definitely vets, then get some pet wipes and a nice brush to help him out with the areas that have got a bit tricky for him.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 09/09/2017 20:46

Ahh the brush! 😾 He runs at the sight. He's always had a tricky spot on his back, even as a kitten, he used to go around in circles on the floor trying to get it. Right best get the gardening gloves and cat carrier out.

Old girl wouldn't be groomed. I used to give her catnip. Then stroke then brush then stroke. She didn't have time to object before another stroke!
Watch out for old (maybe skinny) cat with thin skin and brush. Ours loved the furminator but she was long haired. Something soft like a zoom groom might be best.
