Too many strays!

There seems to have been an explosion of cats in my road over the last couple of months. There is a very cute, three-legged cat who constantly wants to come in to both mine and my neighbour's houses. She is now travelling with a small, heavily pregnant cat who I think may be her kitten as they are very affectionate towards each other. They both seem to live permanently outside my house. Just over a month ago, myself and my neighbours rescued a two-month old kitten that was hiding under a large tree during one of the worst storms that we had over the summer. They took it to the vets who treated it for hypothermia and it was placed with Cat Protection. I think all of these cats may be coming from a house on the end of the cul-de-sac where the RSPCA come and go regularly but I thought that they may have taken the cats away for neutering? I'm not sure what to do - should I contact the Cat Protection or RSPCA? I can't take these cats in, I have two of my own.

I would contact Cats Protection for advice. thecatneuterer will hopefully be along with some useful advice.

Forgot to say the RSPCA have more "powers" but likely to PTS hence why I say CP.

Thanks Vinorosso74 I can only see the situation getting worse because the other cat is definitely pregnant and then we'll have a load of kittens around the place!

Unless you live in London/Essex (in which case pm me) then call CP straight away. They are the only ones who deal with strays. Of course if they are friendly then you can take them to the vet yourself. The best thing for the pregnant one is to do a spay/abort. Not all vets will do this, but many will.

But if you can't get hold of her then CP will be able to trap. But as there are so few charities dealing with trapping and neutering, and problems on just about every street, it can be difficult to get something done. But keep phoning if necessary.

If you are in London/Essex then I, through Celia Hammonds, may be able to help.
