Neighbours aggressive cat

We live in a quietish cul de sac (mostly young families, very close to good primary and park..etc)
There are a few cats about just being cats, a few odd scraps but nothing to write home about.
The last couple of weeks there has been a really big Bengal cat about. Not seen him (assuming it's a boy because it really is huge).
He's been crapping all over our front lawn, has put huge scratches in our new fence which we've ignored. We've heard a lot of cat fights over the last few days but don't know for sure it's this cat.

Today one of the neighbours who live opposite us (don't really know them) knocked on our door really upset because this huge cat (they said it was a lynx - it's not) had 'attacked' their two cats and one has been taken to the vets and needs stitches. Apparently when the owner ran out to stop it, it took a swipe at him and hissed and wasn't afraid of him at all and only left when a car pulled in.
He's been round all the houses and no one knows who owns it but a lot of people have been complaining about it. I thought these sorts of cats were expensive so I don't think it's a stray.

He said he wanted to let us know as we have little children.

Is there anything that can be done? Do cats go for people unprovoked like that? I'll try and get a photo of it if it comes about tomorrow. Maybe it's the breed. I'm not a cat person so pretty clueless sorry if thats ignorant Blush

We have a really aggressive cat nearby too Sad He was abandoned as a kitten apparently, and his current owners took him in as a starving stray, but by then it was too late ask he was already aggressive with other cats from not being neutered on time. They are really embarrassed by his behavior, but obviously they themselves have done nothing wrong, and they can't keep him in all the time.

I have upgraded our catflap to a microchip one, so they always have indoor access to a safe space. He sits in wait for them, so I chase him away whenever I see him, and often check the garden when they are going out!! But in all honesty I don't think there is much else I can do, it's a shit situation all round. I have never lived near a cat that was so stalkery before, normally it's been a few growl-y standoffs then they leave each other alone Sad

He's no risk to kids, mines aggressive but scared of kids.

We've got an un neutered male that hangs around. Looks like butter wouldn't melt. Neighbours who he owns call him skips cause that's where they found him. No bother to kids just other cats
