New Precious Puss Girl is a vocal cat - that's ok, I don't mind a bit of a chat. What I do mind is endless mrrraooowwwing outside my bedroom door at 5am. We aren't late risers - we will be up and moving about 6.30 but 5 is just too damn early. It's been a month now and she will still shout for an hour to an hour and a half until the door opens - she is seriously persistent! We left her in our room for two nights and it was a disaster. She just walked all over us all night. Suggestions please? I would have thought she would have given up by now!

You so do Grin

Honestly, pop in room furthest away from you with a closed door and forget about this creature for the evening.

And I speak as a cat owner. She'd be mittens if she woke me up at 5am though (only half a joke)

Lock her in the kitchen with some food and a litter tray at night, and then sleep with earplugs

NoSquirrels · 24/09/2017 21:27

She will be F.I.N.E. Seriously. Don't sweat it. You gave her a chance - but middle of the night shenanigans must be ignored or prevented. You're choosing prevent- it's fine!

EachandEveryone · 24/09/2017 23:58

She'll be fine. I do it now and again if ive had a drunk night out

ocelot41 · 25/09/2017 07:09

She was indeed fine. And we have all had the best sleep in ages. Should have done it yonks ago Blush

Glad that it worked out, my cat goes in the kitchen during the working week otherwise I get 5am fury wake up. At weekends I don't mind as I have a lie in anyway.

We have a timid rescue cat and I'm too soft. The solution is to close him downstairs but I feel really mean doing that. He mews piteously and scratches at the door. So we have the bedroom door open and I've got really good at pulling the pillow over my head to avoid the INTENSE FOOD LOVE that gets delivered. He keeps morning and evening appointments...

Just an update. Not only has Precious Puss Girl accepted being shut in with good grace, she also seems calmer and less shouty in general. Here is a shot of her in her new bed in the kitchen - I got a dog bed because she's a MC so most cat beds are too small.

Oh that's very fancy. She really is right at home isn't she? What are those grey railings? Are u up high? You are a clutter free bunch, I must say.

ocelot41 · 27/09/2017 16:15

The kitchen is on a mezzanine floor Each. We have had perspex sheets fixed on the railings so she can't fall or jump through. She wouldn't touch the bed new (maybe smelled funny after the factory?) So I put an old blanket and one of my dressing gowns over it. Now it smells right, she's fine!
