What are the essentials for being a good cat owner?

There's a cat looking for a new home locally, it's in a bit of a state at the moment. We don't have any current pets, can and will pay for insurance, flea, worming, chipping, vaccinations and give it lots of TLC. We do have a toddler. We could spare about £50 a month towards anything it might need (obviously it'll be more some months and less others).

Is there anything else I'm missing?

The cat does currently have fleas, we have flea treatment drops ready and have a can of indorex. If we treat the cat straight away and have the house sprayed with the indorex will we avoid an infestation or not?

To encourage eating and drinking,I offer my cat tinned tuna in spring water (must be water NOT brine) drain the tuna, retain the water and give her this to her to eat, put the water it was in into a dish and give her this to drink...this worked when I had a poorly boy who wouldn't eat or drink...

I am so over invested in this cats eating habits. She just ate a whole pouch of wet food and I watched with glee the entire time. She's improving every day. She's grooming herself now too which I think is a good sign.

If she's grooming that's a really good sign Smile

My cat was a real state to start with but I wipes him down using a damp flannel which helped get his coat looking decent again. I think it gets to a point when they live outside that they can't keep on top of keeping themselves clean.

How lovelySmile
