Siamese kitten living with non Siamese cat

I have the chance to rehome a Siamese kitten. I currently have a two year old DSH cat and I wondered if it is OK for a Siamese kitten / cat to live with a non Siamese cat?

Any help / advice would be gratefully received.

I have a Siamese and a moggie, they are fine with each other. I've never heard that I shouldn't have both, why would that be a problem?

MaidenMotherCrone · 04/09/2017 09:19

My Siamese and Bengal were devoted to each other. My Oriental ( Non pointed Siamese really) and Mog were best friends. Seems a silly idea to me.

My Siamese wasn't thrilled with my moggy for a long time, but that's because it was an adult Siamese with a new cat added in, they ended up being friends eventually though.

Beautiful cats!

I've never heard that I shouldn't have both, why would that be a problem?

It was just someone mentioned it as a possible issue and I wanted to make sure that I hadn't missed something and could be making a mistake. It sounds like I have nothing to worry about though Grin

Beautiful. I guess one might think she's brighter than the other! Oh what an opportunity I secretly crave one but it will never happen.

OliviaStabler · 04/09/2017 18:13

My Dad is worried my current cat will be upset but I think she will learn to love the company.

Two years isn't too old she will be put out at first but if you look in the internet there's loads of advice about introducing.

BalconyBunting · 04/09/2017 20:11

Yes I have got different breeds living with Siamese and they get on fine. I think if you can introduce them correctly that will help.

devilinme · 04/09/2017 20:19

We have Siamese 4years and an Oriental 1 year and have just introduced a kitten of unknown origin because we found him, alone and near to death in the street, whilst on holiday.
We are introducing slowly but progress is being made
Here's some pics

I'm not sure that cats have any concept of self identity.

BelindaBlinked · 04/09/2017 20:28

I don't have any advice really, Im just parking myself here on the off chance of more cat photos 😹

wineandcheeseplease · 04/09/2017 20:33

I have 2 siameses and one moggy (half siamese!) Who live fine. Used to have other moggies too

Loving all the pictures, here's my two again and before & after of our street cat

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/09/2017 20:52

That poor cats skeletal.

devilinme · 04/09/2017 20:53

That's why we took him off the street Fluffy. He's thriving now

Icequeen01 · 04/09/2017 21:02

Oh that poor little scrap! What a fantastic transformation. Thank goodness you found him, that's one lucky cat!

MrsJamin · 04/09/2017 21:08

We have a siamese with a non-siamese and they utterly love one another. It'll be fine! Much better than having a siamese by his/herself, as they love having company when you're not around.
