Stray cat pooing in the garden

We have a stray cat that has been coming round fighting with our old lady cat for a few months, she has sustained some injuries and has had to be taken to the vet once or twice as wounds were deep and infected. The stray is a young male cat he hangs around outside our house meowing at the top of his lungs. He has came in and ate all her food more than once. My heart breaks for him as he is obviously hungry and scared, but my cat seems to be terrified of him, he is now doing his business at the bottom of the garden, my cat has taken to spraying along the fence, but he still keeps doing it. Has anyone got any advice?
I have contacted all the cat charities but they do not have any spaces as there is an outbreak of cat flu at the moment.

Try some cat repellent. You can but powders or sprays and I hear garlic is very effective at keeping them away. Is there a way you could encourage the stray to gosuc attention somewhere else? If he tempted to leave good elsewhere for it but I know other people would disagree.

Have you checked that it isnt chipped? Some cats look like stays but aren't. Equally, could you use your local Facebook page to look for an owner for it? Someone might offer to take it.

Hope your cat is doing okay.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about using cat repellent in case it would upset my cat, we have put it on Facebook and all the locals are aware of it being a stray, it's the talk of the estate because of the noise it's making.

Great news got a call from cat protection today, they have a space for the stray kitty, I'm going to get a trap from them tomorrow, think I will take up same cat food, would they be happy with tins of cat food?

Oh that is such good news!. Yes to tins of food, bags of litter etc.

Yay. I'm so pleased. Well done for caring enough to help find stray a safe place.

Well done, that's great news. Hopefully once he has been castrated (I'm guessing he hasn't been already), his aggression will settle.

We got the trap this morning and caught him within an hour, he is now in the safe hands of the cat protection people, its good to know that from now on he will have food and shelter, they named him Brucie after Bruce Forsyth.

A happy ending xxx
