Flea Treatment

Hello...we appear to have an infestation. Unable to get stuff as vets closed until Monday now Sad my question is - can I use the household spray (vets recommended RIP Fleas) in a couple of rooms at a time over the course of a few days or do I really need to do the whole house at once? Will be treating cats with spot on too obviously.

Many thanks

Watching with interest as just spent over £60 and cats and dogs still scratching!!

I really think you need to do the whole house at once then vacuum as if your MIL is coming to stay, change all the bedding and vacuum the mattresses, and remember to empty the vacuum frequently. Good luck.

Which spot on are you using?

iamdivergent · 26/08/2017 14:41

It's from the vets...advantage? I missed a dose at the worst time of the year- never going to happen again!

Asda pharmacy sell indorex, others likely do too.

There's always a pharmacy open in the district Sunday's & bh.

I'm out in the sticks. Unfortunately even our pets at home don't have any in store

I found spot-on treatments and spray to be pretty useless. We only have one cat, but she's quite fluffy. My daughter was getting bitten, it was awful, so I totally understand how stressed you feel.

My vet suggested a Seresto collar and it's been the only thing to have worked. You're supposed to use it in conjunction with sprays (like RIP), but I'm pregnant (and frankly lazy) so didn't spray. The collar has kept the cat and house flea-free for 5 months now. It was expensive but worth it.

Fleas seem to haven gotten used to Spot on, over the counter treatments are useless, if you have to wait until the vet is open, vacuum, vacuum vacuum, amazon Also sell indorex !

Vets done and dusted, cats have been spot on'd with Activyl (never heard of this one!). Going to spray upstairs after lunch and head out for school so the fumes dont get to the wee one, then do downstairs before we go to bed tonight after GoT

Fingers crossed we will be on our way to being flea free!!!

Good luck X

Ah the dead fleas have started making an appearance where the cats have been lying Grin but also Envy

I also gave RIP Fleas a call who have said that you can do a few rooms at a time due to the nature of the product it shouldn't make a difference to the effectiveness of the spray.

That's good, horrible little buggers, but they shouldn't be a problem for much longer and your kittens (and your family) will be a lot happier X
