And why do they have to be nbm for so long before spaying? Any ideas how to get her to eat now before i take the food away? Her sister is going to be well annoyed!

Yes, water is fine overnight. No food. I think their is a danger that they can choke or aspirate food into their lungs with the anaesthetic tomorrow. My girl had a tube put down her airway.

Have the carry basket ready with it's door open and put the one to be neutered straight into the basket in the hallway or porch or behind a door, out of sight and then feed her sister in the morning. The patient will be hungry tomorrow evening when you collect her. My girl was nil after 9.30pm before op. They had nosh before that and just had the water overnight.

Good luck.

I was asking the same questions about the H2O.

I've made a onesie for her tried it on tonight and she went mad so it's all going to be fun and games. Can you remember how much you paid? Did you use up all the painkillers?

They looked at another issue at the same time as the neutering so I'd have to go and take that off the bill. The quote had been around £80, but I think it was slightly more even subtracting the cost for the other issue. It is less than a 5 minute car ride though, which is wonderful.

They didn't give any painkillers whatsoever to us. She got a long lasting, 48 hour, painkiller from them along with antibiotic (injection, I think). She is going up and down the stairs this morning with her brother. He was bringing a toy mouse up and flinging it down the steps. They'd both come thundering down after it. And repeat ad nauseam. I'll be keeping a very close eye on her now as the painkiller should be wearing off.

Her brother has been sleeping with me the last two nights as he hates being alone and I didn't want him in with her unsupervised overnight. He cries and cries if I put him on his own in another room. She has her Greta Garbo moments, so she was fine being on her own. He will be unceremoniously put back in their sleeping area in a week or two. I can't be doing with the purring and rubs at 3am!

'their is a danger'. Blasted computer. There, there, there.

Well I'm going to try the onesie tonight. They are clipping her nails and cleaning her ears it's included in the price. She doesn't go out yet. How much does she weigh? My bloody Daphne is 4.7 she's shot right up since the sister came. I'm desparate to put them both on the same food.

4.7kg. That can't be a kitten, can it? Large gal. My girl is only 2.31kg. Brother was nigh on 2.8kg. He is probably the 3kg now as he wolfs (soz puds) down his food and anything she has left . They're five months old.

It is fantastic to have them done. One less thing to worry about. It is a good idea, the onesie. One of mine was gunning for the plastic collar/cone in my house. It was left on the table in the front room and this morning it was at the top of the stairs, slightly chewed.

Anyone got any tips for post-spaying care? My poor little girl is so sad and subdued one day after, and I don't know how to make it better apart from lots of cuddles.

EachandEveryone · 24/08/2017 13:03

They've rang to say it all went well so I can pick her up at 4pm

They tend to get over it really quickly, you'll be surprised how little it bothers her.

EachandEveryone · 24/08/2017 15:35

It's the sister cleaning her I'm worried about
