I am done.

I'm about to just lie down and surrender my bodies to the fleas, they have won, I have lost.

I fostered a mum cat and she had five kittens in my care. I was informed that she definitely didn't have fleas but low and behold of course she did. By the time I had noticed the house was lifting with them Sad

I treated all my cats three weeks ago and sprayed the house, washing soft furnishings etc. Hoovered every day like a good girl, but the fleas just kept seeming to multiply.
The cats were adopted so we sprayed the house again and went on holiday for 5 days. When we came back the cat room was like a flea rave, I walked across the room and they were bold as brass swarming around my feet and legs. I sprayed the room again, cried, had a tantrum and single handily lifted my carpet and removed it from my house. Then I sprayed the room again.
I can still see fleas merrily jumping around my cat like it's Saturday night at flea Glastonbury.

Today I am re washing my sheets and spraying my poor naked house again.

Please say there's other people in the same boat, I need a hand hold... and a bath.

Removing my carpet seems to have done bog all.

You could get a pest control company in, I have no idea how much it would cost. I remember when I lived somewhere where there were lots of fleas (as opposed to where I live now where I have literally never seen a flea in 20 years) that someone I knew got a company in when they had the sort of problem you are having and it was very successful.

It is horrible, I remember stepping out of bed and instantly having half a dozen fleas on my foot. That was just one room though and I suspect there were fewer restrictions on the chemicals you could buy over the counter because I sprayed the carpet and they died!

thank you posie I'll try that as the poor cat has been itching non stop all day.

I feel for you. I have the exact same problem right now. I cannot for the life of me get rid of the bloody fleas. I can literally feel my skin crawling as I write this. I am already trying everything suggested here. Nothing is working Sad

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/08/2017 20:07

Was just about to post to be patient as it takes a while to work! Hooray!

haveacupoftea · 28/08/2017 20:12

Glad they're gone. It helps to let the treated pet in every room of the house so that all the wee shits bite them and die.

"sprayed the house, washing soft furnishings etc. Hoovered every day like a good girl"

After you spray you're supposed to leave the sprayed area at least 3 days before vacuuming, or the spray won't have a chance to kill the feckers.
(Sorry)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/08/2017 20:31

And spray your hoover bag too!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/08/2017 20:34

We had fleas, frontline didn't touch them. A good dose of advantage did the trick although you need the fleas to bite the cat to die if that makes sense.

We bought a lamp thing as well that attracts them and sticks them down. We caught a few but not loads, but our carpet fleas have now completely gone. I would walk to the bathroom in the night and feel them nipping me all along the landing! Empty the vacuum after every room and put it in the outside bin as well.

Glad yours have finally gone. We had this in March. Used a couple of cans of indorex on the house. You have to repeat this every 9 months. All 4 cats have advocate from the vets every month as per their weight. Also worming is part of it. Thing is to keep on top of it all to keep them away. Horrible.

dementedpixie · 28/08/2017 20:57

What worked in the end?

SentientCushion · 28/08/2017 21:02

I think what I was doing was working anyway but I just needed to wait for the second generation to die.

Advocate from the vets, indorax and washing everything not nailed down.

I also think ripping up the carpet and buying new bedding helped.
