How long do you keep the wet food out?

Just that really.

We keep being advised different, so I'd like to see the majority in here.

Some people say 30 minutes after it's been put down.

Some say 2 hours after it's been put down?

Blegh.

Kitties are 9 weeks tomorrow!

Mine are very much grazers, so only leaving the food down for a short while would mean they had hardly any wet. There's also your personal schedule to be taken into consideration - e.g. if you feed them shortly before going to work, you would have to either take the bowls us right away or leave it down all day. The temperature of your house could make a difference too, though as mine tend to eat all the jelly off first theirs usually just dries out a bit.

It goes down before I go to work or before I go to bed and then left until I get home/ get up or it's been eaten. It's usually been eaten.

candicemerlot · 21/08/2017 19:17

My 3 cats generally eat it before it's even out the packet! LOL xx

Samsara123 · 21/08/2017 19:19

I've started doing half a sachet at a time, which usually gets eaten, once all gravy and jelly gone and drying, he turns his nose up

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/08/2017 19:19

Breakfast goes down and, if there's any left, stays down until lunchtime. Lunch stays down until dinner time (although it's tuna so there's rarely any left!) and dinner stays down until the following morning. It's still wet when we take it up so at least it's not dry and manky!

EachandEveryone · 21/08/2017 23:25

God it really stinks the bins out doesn't it? I couldn't bare the waste throwing it out after 30 mins. I leave it out until it's time for the next feed. I have started to buy the small sachets though which cost a fortune. I find that tins hardly get touched.

We only give half a pouch at a time (twice a day) with dry food left out, the wet food is usually gone in under a minute, occasionally they don't eat it all right away but it's always gone within half an hour or so.

lynmilne65 · 22/08/2017 07:41

Mine also lick
jelly and gravy off and turn up noses at the rest, or, if they have decided they don't like it, set up
a hullabaloo!!!!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 22/08/2017 07:50

@EachandEveryone - scrape any leftovers into scented nappy sacks!

Leroy has half a pouch at regular intervals so there tends to be very little left. Personally I'd leave it down with biscuits so they have the choice.

dementedpixie · 22/08/2017 07:54

For kittens I put a smaller amount down more often as they can't eat much at a time. Now they are older I put a whole pouch down each twice a day and just leave it until it's gone as they come back and forth to it. Dry is out all the time

Our kitchen is cool so I tend to leave it until the next meal. He gets fed (roughly) 7am, 3pm, 9pm. Leftovers get chucked in the fish pond, the fish go mental for it.
