Anxious about letting kitten outside

My kitten is now 6 months. She seems well settled with us. She has recently been spayed and micro-chipped. She has been out to explore the garden on a lead and harness quite a lot. She used to cry to go out so the lead seemed to be a good compromise.
Now that she is 6 months and has been spayed etc. I think it's probably time to start introducing her to the outside without her lead. The problem is that the thought of it makes me quite anxious. I'm worried that something will happen to her.
What's the best way to introduce her to more freedom? and how can I get over my own anxiety about it? I do have a tendency to worry.
I had a house cat when I was much younger and there wasn't the same stress really. She wasn't interested in going out at all. This one is different. TIA

Make sure she knows her name and comes when called.
Does she 'answer' to the dry cat for box?
Let her out hungry and make her come back every few mins and gradually increase the time she is out. .
And stop worrying!!

I started by going out at the same time as mine and would pick them down from fences (they werent chipped/ neutered when they first went out so I confined then to the garden- they are done now though). I then gradually let them go a bit further and before long they were climbing up and down the fences. Mine are 9 months old now and I don't know how far afield they go. They come back and forth and are kept in overnight

I always give them a treat when they come back and they sometimes come back at the sound of the dreamies tub!

Have your garden cat proofed , that or a cat run is the only way you can guarantee she is safe . One of my neighbours only ever lets hers out of the back door in the hope that they will only wander in that direction but she's lost 2 or 3 on the busier road near our houses that is more accessible from the front so that doesn't work .
