I don't know where my cat and kittens thread has gone but I need to trey and get this family together. The mum is coming for food I need some kind of shelter which might encourage her to bring the babies back. It's important she does this soon. I'm on nights so won't be doing any diy thanks!!!

You could try one of those small pop up greenhouses? They have a zip front for a 'door'.

EachandEveryone · 15/08/2017 17:40

Won't it get blown away though?

Cheap rabbit hutch from Gumtree or somewhere. Leave the door wedged open. Or upside down plastic storage box with 'door' cut in it. Put a couple of bricks on top to stop it blowing away.

I think you said you had some amazon boxes. If so, try putting one inside another. Put on some unopened black sacks/sheet of aero board or tarpaulin under it. Maybe a tarpaulin from Wicks or similar tied around it or held in place. Lined with newspaper. Not diy really, but quick with stuff around. No open plastic bags. Smothering is too easy.

Or even a plastic crate on it's side, wedged tight against something and again covered over with a tied on tarpaulin. Something inside like newspaper and opening away from the wind. Tarpaulin can extend over like a covered porch.

Not advertising for Wicks, in particular. From anywhere is good.

A premade hutch or similar is probably safer.

Do you think one of those large covered litter trays with the door removed would be too small? You could line it with something cozy and tape some cardboard or similar against the grills to stop the rain.

Yes I've also got plenty of cat carriers won't they do? Should I move the food closer to my door I wonder. Has skbethkbg happened to this site? I can't search threads I'm on

Ikea used to do a plastic pop up play tent

OlennasWimple · 15/08/2017 18:04

Yeah, TIO and TIW has been fucked by an "improvement" - everyone's having problems

EachandEveryone · 15/08/2017 18:15

That's ok then it's not just me tents are no good due to wind issue and I can't make anything due to sleeping all day and working all night. Also blue bottles are becoming a problem any ideas?

Feed mostly dry food, and only do a little of the wet at a time? that should cut the flies down a bit.

EachandEveryone · 15/08/2017 18:59

But she's a stray must need the wet she's necking it down in minutes the dry will fly all over the shop

How windy is it where you live? You can out dry food in an old ice cream tub or something with the lid on and a hole cut in the side, she will drag it out with her paw. That and a bowl of water is fine, she prefers wet food but dry food and water are better than wet food covered in fly eggs.

DudeHatesHisCarryOut · 15/08/2017 19:13

Could you get a large, plastic storage box and cut a hole in one end? You could put the food and water just in the entrance which would give them protection from the wind.

Thanks I got s couple of containers I'll give it a go
