Buying cat food in bulk and getting it delivered

Sparklingbrook · 09/08/2017 16:52

Sparklingcat eats the same food every day. Sheba pouches, the ones that come in boxes of 12.
I am thinking of just ordering a job lot. Any recommendations for online pet shops that do good deals if you buy in bulk?

I use Amazon as you can get a subscription and have extra money off that way

Sparklingbrook · 09/08/2017 16:57

I have Amazon Prime is that a good start?

Sounds like it. Make sure it's not three for two anywhere first though mine was at Ocado last time. She loves the fish ones. How many pouches are you doing a day?

Sparklingbrook · 09/08/2017 17:03

Erm, too many. Blush 4 or 5. Only the fish variety is acceptable though. She quite likes those Soups but they are very ££ and there's nothing in the pouch. Angry

I order a 12kg bag of fatty and Snorgs food. It lasts about 3-4 months.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/08/2017 17:15

Zooplus are very good but make sure you have DPD deliver not Yodel!

Allergictoironing · 09/08/2017 17:27

I get most of my cat's food from Zooplus, they tend to do the LARGE boxes of pouches e.g. for the Sheba they do packs of up to 96 Shock pouches in Fish in Gravy style, or 44s for most of the tray varieties etc.

To get free DPD delivery you need to spend over £39, but it does keep for ages & I'm sure you could find other fun stuff there to make it up if needed Wink.

Sparklingbrook · 09/08/2017 17:56

Will have a look at Zooplus-thanks.

God are you sure she won't go off it though? You know how fickle they are. No dry food?

EachandEveryone · 09/08/2017 18:21

They are 2 boxes for £8 at Asda I don't know if you do their delivery.

Wolfiefan · 09/08/2017 18:24

You know the minute it arrives it will be deemed inedible!! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 09/08/2017 18:28

Mmmm. There is always that worry isn't there. She pulled that stunt before with Felix as Good as it Looks. Angry

They are doing buy one get one half price at Pets at Home at £4.99. I will have to get the calculator out. Grin

dingit · 09/08/2017 18:32

4 or 5 pouches? Are you sure it's not a lion? Grin

Sparklingbrook · 09/08/2017 18:34

I know dingit. She's got it sussed because the boys are off school she can miaow at either of them and get fed as they don't know when she was fed last.
Then when DH and I come home she miaows at us too, and if the boys are out and we can't check she gets fed again.

I get my dry cat food in bulk from amazon, 4 2-kilo bags every 8 weeks, which is generally bang on for my 2, depending on how much the dog manages to scarf! I love the convenience because my local supermarkets and the dreaded Pets At Home no longer stock it. Amazon only have the one flavour, but they haven't complained yet...

dingit · 09/08/2017 19:08

Littlecandle, what dried food do you order. My little angel has decided she only likes dried food ( although fresh chicken is still on the menu) at the moment and I'm worried that it's not ok for her, she's 10.

Graveyardkate · 11/08/2017 22:35

I don't know how it compares pricewise, but I have found fetch.co.uk very good for specialist prescription diets and others - it's delivered for free by Ocado in a one hour slot if you spend over £30.

dementedpixie · 11/08/2017 22:36

Bitiba is another good website to use.

Sparklingbrook · 12/08/2017 12:32

Ah yes, I got this from Bitiba. She loves it.

Thanks for more suggestions.

Zooplus do a loyalty thing where you pay a couple if quid per year and it gets you 10% of every order, in addition to any other discount code, quidco etc.

I get all my pet food from there. My cat is on the cosma tins which i really rate, proper meat, no smell, cat only eats 2 per day. Trying to find a dog equivalent but so far everything looks and smells like dog food. Even the chicken.

Hulder · 12/08/2017 12:44

I've started using Zooplus now the kittens have arrived and wish I'd started sooner.

So convenient for having massive sacks of cat litter delivered as well, instead of lugging them back myself.

They also have a lot more choice than the supermarket/Pets at Home so the kittens are happily on Feringa wet food which as PP says is proper meat and a fraction of the price of UK brands for same quality.

We are all happy - and older cat will be too as next delivery she's swapping onto their food too Grin

RubbishMantra · 12/08/2017 12:55

I get mine from Zooplus too, and like a PP pay a fiver a year to get 5% off my order. They give loyalty points too - I used mine to try a sample pack of Orijen last time and the boys yammed it, so I went on to buy it in the biggest size. If you go through Topcashback you can get a further 4.5% back.

Can only speak for myself, but I've never had any problems with Yodel, but I know others that have.

Wordsaremything · 12/08/2017 13:09

Ocado. Mine love the Sheba too. For those horrified at the multi-pouch habit, they are 85 rather than 100g. It makes a difference (albeit small!) Grin

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 12/08/2017 13:13

We order from Zooplus. Super practical as we don't have a car.

SerendipityFelix · 12/08/2017 13:25

I use Amazon subscribe & save get 15% off lots of stuff (pet food and things like tin/jar foods, toilet rolls, razor blades etc) also use Viovet subscription for a few pet things Amazon don't have.
