Ragdoll

I have been asked, in very sad circumstances, whether I would adopt a two year old ragdoll sometime in the near future. I know nothing about them as have always had Siamese, although catless at present. Any info would be gratefully received.

This is a question I can answer. About half my cats are mostly Siamese and the other half are mostly Ragdolls (translated, not pure breed, mothers were not overly discriminating). The Ragdolls are the sweetest, most amiable cats you can imagine. After having cared for mostly Siamese it was striking to see the difference in temperament between them and the Ragdolls. The Siamese are brilliant, would be excellent managers, rate us as fairly good staff. The Ragdolls are like puppies bouncing about with joy when they aren't napping.

All our cats are rescues that we raised from infancy, so the bond we share is strong with all of them and we love them all. But the Ragdolls are the less challenging breed. They are always up for a cuddle and whatever you want to do sounds great to them, while the Siamese are a bit more reserved. It makes for an interesting household!

Ragdolls are amazing, sedate, beautiful, cuddly, enormous cats. I love them. They are lots maintenance as cats go, but do need a reasonable amount of grooming due to their coat.

Hope all goes well with the rehoming!

Thank you. I've said I'll have her but am so used to Siamese - 5 cats over 45 years, that I didn't quite know what to expect. Presumably a bit of peace and quiet after the Siamese! Grin

I admit to being slightly biased but I do think they're the best cats ever.
They're very loving and placid and just gorgeous.
They do need a lot of grooming so getting into the habit of giving them a quick brush every day will make your life a lot easier.
