my cat has had the above for a few weeks now & sadly still not responded 100% to course of antibiotics pills/injections (awaiting latest poo sample result). to add to the fun, i think i have caught it (which doesn't surprise me tbh) and will have to go to drs first thing monday as symptom wise i tick literally every box (although am quite happy with the weight loss..). Anyone else had this (cat that takes ages to get over the above & caught it themselves). She likes to sleep on my pillow often with her face right up to mine.....so no more of that then, not until we are both better Grin

Oh dear. You can probably get an anti-protozoa drug (technically the type of med needed, not same as anti-biotic) from a GP. Look after yourself... it is a self-limiting bug, usually.

Yes- my cat had this Sad. The poo smell and consistency was UNBELEIVABLY bad. Even the vet looked a little nauseous at the poo sample.

I think the only one was that works is metronizadole. And the cat hated it.
And after the antibs worked, the cat had to go onto low carb hogh protein food as his guts are still a little dodgy...

My daughter and son caught it from our cat, but took a while to realise it. They were all treated with Flagyll (sp?). The vet mentioned it was a human medicine when he was prescribing it for our cat. It took ages for our cat to get better and then was on boiled rice and chicken for a while as it had really stuffed his insides.
