Is lick-e-lix a safe bet for hiding Loxicom?

PolterCat is injured Sad

I asked dp to buy cat soup for hiding the Loxicom but he bought lick-e-lix instead.

What do you hide med's in?

We used to use really stinky tinned pilchards, preferably Lidl cheapest.

Just occasionally the cat hoovered it up and didn't notice the meds.

Polter · 05/08/2017 18:37

Thanks Blackbird, will remember stinky pilchards to keep as a standby, thankfully my last minute panic is over, he wolfed it down in the revolting chicken yoghurt gloop and asked for more, so I guess it wasn't noticeable.

I found my two took pain killers best if I just syringed it straight in. Though I have mixed it with Lik e lix. Currently trying to mix piriton tablets with lik e lix but now they won't touch it unadulterated so don't that's going to work any more!

Polter · 06/08/2017 12:16

Human piriton is quite bitter IIRC so good luck with that.

He's currently taken great umbrage at the litter tray and refusing to poo. This is normal for him as he hates the tray, he's back at the vets tomorrow so hopefully he'll have managed it by then.

When Ernie was on Metacam we used to hide it in Filet steak.

Now this sounds...expensive... but I used to get a piece of tail end for a couple of quid and slice it very thinly and freeze it. A piece would last a week.

It's worth it to see the butchers face when you say it's for the cat Grin

To be honest I hadn't heard of lick-e-lix then...I put salmon oil in the lick-e-lix and he doesn't mind

Polter · 06/08/2017 12:28

PolterCat would be very happy if he got steak Grin

I've just spent £10 on some of those treats you put tablets in. I'll cry if they don't eat them!

Polter · 07/08/2017 12:04

Tablets I can do, Dairylea triangle or a knob of butter, get cat licking it, smother tablet in it, poke tablet to back of throat through side of mouth and hold mouth closed, covering cat in Dairylea/butter in the process and then leave cat to clean up.

hold mouth closed ... with slippery, buttery fingers ... what could possibly go wrong?

Polter · 07/08/2017 13:34

Nothing.

Mine were both very good with medicine and are pretty good with milbemax, Drontal was a nightmare though.

Polter · 07/08/2017 14:59

I have Drontal down to a fine art.

Snorg has eaten her treat with piriton in it! Now to get fatty to eat hers!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/08/2017 15:51

No point in giving it to Snorg while Fatty watches so she gets jealous?

Polter · 07/08/2017 15:59

Well done Snorg Star

PolterCat is now going to be expecting lick-e-lix at 6.30pm every day for the rest of his life.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/08/2017 08:16

Spartacus. She just ate the dreemies round it and left the greenie treat. Had to stop Snorg eating it and overdosing. Put it in fatty's mouth, she chewed it and spat it out down my top. Thanks for that! HmmToo right polter cat, you should Insist on that bike stuff every day!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/08/2017 08:44

Oh dear. Which one is the brains behind the outfit? Fatty or Snorg?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/08/2017 08:48

Our cat loves Lick e Lix ,I have to hide Cystaid in it every day.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/08/2017 13:24

Don't think either of them have any brains!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/08/2017 13:30

Well, at least they have the looks to make up for it :)
