New kitten 😸 is she a Calico???

So just got this lovely little terror a week ago, meet Callie she is 10 weeks old 😸 The woman I got her from said kitty was a Calico, which I've never heard of before. Looked up online but not sure if she is or not, just curious anyone any ideas? Sorry not the best pictures.

Tabby and white is just tabby and white I think.

Calico is an American term.

As PP's have said, calico is just the American term for tortoiseshell and white. Your lovely kitten is a tabby. I have one of each in my cat collection!

Botanic- she's beautiful! I have such a weakness for long haired cats.

Bertie that sounds lovely - the second one must have had the "dilute" gene that makes all other coat colours faded.

Aw thanks dumbledore i'm smitten now too with long haired cats! she's the first long haired one I've ever had, was a bit apprehensive about brushing & being able to look after her coat properly esp as I seem to attract 'grouchy hissy no brushy' un cooperative type cats

Your kitten is gorgeous but, as others have mentioned, she's not a Calico. I'm happy to swap your lovely kitten for a very chatty Calico

She's so sweet. And is brown tabby and white, not calico which is (as others have said) tortoiseshell and white - ie black, ginger and white.

You can also get tabby-torties (aka torbies), which have patches of brown tabby and patches of ginger tabby - they can be with white or without. TartanHare's cat is one of those.

I had a tortoiseshell and white. Her name was Philomena but we called her Beanie

Thanks for all your help, all your Kitty's are gorg. I can see from your pics that she's not calico, she's a beauty of a cat and she keeps me on my toes esp at 3 am when she decides to tap my nose with her paws then dive under the covers to catch my feet! Its just great fun lol x

I'm not 100% convinced that she isn't a calico. Does she have cream patches anywhere? She looks like a silver tabby to me so any tortie patches would be cream not ginger. We had a silver calico tabby who just had one tiny patch of cream on her face. Other than that she was a classic silver tabby and white cat.

I had a long haired calico, it's the name for the colours not the breed.

My Wispy had big patches of black, white, ginger and brown and she was stunning.

From what I can see I'd say she's a tabbie, and very cute! 😻
