Why can't owners be more responsible.

Picked up 3 stunning cats to take to a specialist rescue today. They were very loved by their owner but very small, thin and not lookig as good as they should. There was an intact boy and an unspayed girl in the same house. Hopefully the girl is not already pregnant. But the rescue is now going to have to spend a fortune on getting them sorted out. It's only a small charity. Sorry to rant but I'm so annoyed.

What's shocked me is that I am no longer shocked by stuff. For example tales of people going away and leaving their cats behind is just a normal, everyday occurrence. It's so commonplace that it fails to even register with me anymore.

It's good that you've taken steps to get it sorted out, even if it should never have come to that.

It's very sad how some humans regard and treat other living beings.
When I was at CP a few weeks ago a man deposited a beautiful black cat to one of the staff. This man had found him left in his carrier outside the centre late the previous night. Anything could have happened to that poor boy. The staff believed him as the dumpers tend not to hand them over. They did tell me some other stories some of which are heartbreaking.

They weren't mistreated or actually neglected but just not looked after as they should have been. I'm very puzzled by the whole situation as they are obviously pedigrees. And I saw one of the certificates. And must have cost a lot of money as a kitten.

It always surprises me how many pedigrees end up in rescue, cats and dogs. Round here there seem to be an endless stream of Shar Pei, dogue de Bordeaux and huskies. Some of those pups probably cost a couple of grand. Doesn't make it any better when it's a cross breed, but why would you spend that kind of money on a pet on a whim?
My boy was one of 60 cats from one premises, no idea if he was part of some breeding program gone wrong, or a result of un- neutered pets getting out of hand, but really, how did it ever get to that stage?
I understand certain situations where a person might be unable to keep a much loved pet, but to not look after one, or just dump it when it stops being cute / gets too big / child comes along, or whatever, is beyond me.
