Think I've got a stray on my road.

Lovely black & white spotty cat who sprays every 10ft or so, he's looking thinner than last month so I've put a dish of food out hoping he'll see it on his return.

He goes down the rd 21:20ish and back up at 22:00ish.

I've put a non descript description up on Fb spotted. Really wish my cat wasn't such an aggressive so & so at times like this.

Well I've now got two dishes of gourmet on the drive. Puss is very unsure of humans & doesn't seem to know what a dish of food is.

He's gone off in the opposite direction with the black cat from down the road.

Yep it sounds as though you have a stray. You know the drill. Feed him at regular times, borrow a trap and get him done.

Then make him a kennel in the front garden, give him a name and eventually watch him become a big soppy puss who sits on your lap and is friends with your cat :)

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/07/2017 11:59

TCN, does the finder have to pay to have him done or will vets help if he's a stray? I'm just asking as there's no way I could afford another cat's vet bills (or have another cat in the house when he was recovering) but obviously wouldn't want to leave him.

I wish it always worked out like that. When we tried to adopt William he chased Harry out of the house. Poor Harry just looked at me and walked off so William had to be relegated to a kennel at the bottom of the garden again.

It entirely depends where you go. Some vets have a stray cat fund. Or you can get vouchers from the Blue Cross, RSPCA or Cats Protection. The recovering bit is the hard bit I suppose. You might also be able to borrow a hospital basket and you would need to keep him in it for around four days. Could you find a room you could shut your other cat out of for that time?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/07/2017 13:04

It's just hypothetical for me at the moment but I like to be prepared!

We've got a one bedroom maisonette so keeping cats separate isn't possible - the only place would be the bedroom which wouldn't be fair on Harry and, to be honest, I wouldn't want a random cat whose habits I don't know living in my bedroom!

Hopefully I won't come across any more strays until I've got a bigger house!

thecatneuterer · 21/07/2017 13:07

That's why they would stay in a hospital basket. A hospital basket is just big enough for a bed and a small tray and it keeps them in one place and separate. They would need to stay in it for about four days.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/07/2017 13:28

Yep, I know the drill.

I can't keep him because my cats a bastard to other cats. He put next doors cat in hospital.

I've got some more food & I'm going to put it out at 9pm.

One dish had been eaten this morning but not the other, & I've put it on fb spotted.

I don't mind paying the neutering & I can lock him in the dressing room if needs be to recover.

Foods out.

I'm going to be monumentally pissed off if he is stray & cpl don't help re-home.

I have a DD for them. CEOs will be emailed.

And he's walked past it again tonight. Maybe he'll see it on his way back.
