New Kitten

DP has rescued a kitten at work today. We have been to the vets and she's been checked over and seems to be fine. DP wants to keep her - what costs are we looking at assuming she has no future health problems?

We have bought some kitten food and milk on the advice of the vet. They've said to leave it a little while before having her vaccinated and neutered and let her settle for a week before worming her.

The vet advised the annual vac would be £52 but didn't say the cost of neutering. They also put some flea spray on her - how long do we need to leave it before we can let her on the sofa / let DD stroke her?

I know - it's just depressing sometimes how cruel people can be.

On a brighter note though - that is one happy kitty you have there! Grin

Oh she's a lovely little thing. Shes coming on already in such a short time. Is she still mouse?

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/07/2017 22:56

Hot water bottle wrapped up so kitten claws don't puncture it, with ticking alarm clock, under her blanket, mimics warmth and heart beat of her mum even if she didn't know her mum. Very comforting for all pups and kits. Always done it with all our family pets.

She's so pretty.

Aw, she is so lovely! Keep an eye out on this board as I may well be giving away Royal Canin kitten biscuits soon. We bought about 20 kilos of the bloody stuff, and not only does my furry little bastard turn her nose up, it actually seems to upset her stomach.

littlepinkgiraffe · 23/07/2017 09:28

She is indeed still Mouse Smile we were going to change it but nothing stuck so Mouse it is!

Thanks for all your comments and tips!

DP said it seemed as though she had some blood in her poo / wee last night so it may be a trip to the vets this morning for us.

It mght just be getting used to the food.

Doobigetta · 23/07/2017 10:22

Yes, mine has had the same thing, and the vet said it is very rarely a cause for serious concern in kittens, it's usually just inflammation caused by a change in diet.

dementedpixie · 23/07/2017 10:41

Is the food you are giving grain free as some cats can be sensitive to grains in their food?

SparklyMagpie · 23/07/2017 11:56

I just still can't get over how beautiful she is! And she seems one happy and content little kitty! 😍

Hopefully nothing too concerning but fingers crossed she's fine after a check up at the vet

Actually feel quite teary knowing the start she's had to her early life but how she has now found a loving, caring and safe forever home. You and your DP sound wonderful OP!

Keep up with the pics Grin

Thanks all, we didn't go to the vets in the end as it didn't happen again and she's fine. It could have been the change in food as she's now on her proper kitten soft food.

She's now learnt how to climb the stairs and had her first morning/afternoon home alone - no mess other than in the litter tray so she's doing fab!

Hope that bstrd cat ripper didn't get her. She is so adorable its making me want not one, but two :-) More pics please as it is brightening up each day of my life!! Mouse - we luzz ya!!!!!!

littlepinkgiraffe · 02/08/2017 23:01

Updated pic of Mouse attached for anyone still following the thread. She's getting very chubby and playful. She can climb the stairs and up the sofa and her eyes appear to be turning green now.

She was weighed at the vets 2 weeks ago and she was 290 grams. Not sure if exact weight now but a lot more than that! They said she was a max of 6 weeks old then too.
