Non-recognition aggression & a house move.

I'm at my wit's end. We moved house last Friday. Our 2 neutered female Burmese house cats have suffered twice before (post vets) with non-recognition aggression. They are normally devoted sisters.

They cannot be anywhere near each other since the move without a fight breaking out. We have kept them in separate 'sanctuary' rooms. We have swopped bedding & also swopped rooms. We have played with them near each other, let them sniff a little through a crack in the door, used Feliway, rubbed each of them with the same cloth, fed either side of door. You name it, we've tried it. It is so upsetting to watch. I cannot really tell whether one is the aggressor- it does seem to be mutual hatred.
I have been reading about a crate system of introducing new cats to existing cats and it got me thinking. If they were in really big cages (like in a cattery) would they eventually get used to the other ones smell again? At the moment, they can't be near enough to each other to smell each other. What happens in catteries? (Definitely not suggesting using one here). Sometimes cat neighbours in a cattery must hate each other. Do they eventually settle over the course of a couple of weeks stay?
Looking for any sort of encouragement here. We love them so much.

First thing is which Feliway are you using, it needs to be Feliway friends. Do you have three of every resource litter tray, food, water, accessible high sleeping places.
If all of these are correct I would be tempted to give each cat their own resources and then gradually build up their interaction with each other time as you were introducing them as new cats.

Yes - they have had Feliway friends diffusers in their separate sanctuary rooms for a week now. It's so hard to watch these two formerly good friends fighting so much.

Zylkene is recommended for calming stressed cats - you can buy it online.

Thanks Rubbish, I'll look that up. Ready to try anything.
