Cat food with small chunks

Can anyone recommend cat food that comes in small chunks and in gravy?

My fussy boy likes applaws Hmm but my wallet doesn't. He's just been in a cattery for a week and his lovely crazy cat lady tried him on loads of other food - he wolfed it all down provided she chopped it up!! Well, I love him but I'm not chopping cat food up chunk by chunk so wondered if anyone knows of anything that comes in smaller chunks or shredded like applaws.

Many thanks!

Felix AGAIL is good, the meat is more shredded pieces thank big chunks and it comes in gravy too. Lots of people will advise against it, its not the best in terms of added cereals and sugars, but my two love it and I supplement with dry food so they get a good variety.

Hi life

LurkingQuietly · 13/07/2017 20:15

Great, thanks. Will take a look at both of them.

Sheba fine flakes is in a thin jelly but has fine shredded meat

Kitten food tends to have smaller chunks. I used it for a while when my cat had problems eating. Might be OK for a pouch a day?

Hi Life - Brand i buy on Amazon subscribe and save .
My 17 yr old puss will only eat this brand and only the gravy version suits me As cheap !!

BabyMoonPie · 13/07/2017 20:25

How about mashing big chunks with a fork? Easier and quicker than chopping them and you could buy cheaper food

caffeinestream · 13/07/2017 21:13

I wouldn't give kitten food - it's too high in calories for an adult cat (unless pregnant/nursing).

Just mash whatever you give with a fork, that's what I've always done.

isseywithcats · 13/07/2017 22:05

sheba is fine shredded meat or as others have said just mash it with a fork easy

Littlesnail · 13/07/2017 22:09

Yes, that's exactly what I thought caffeinestream as that's the advice you see everywhere. There's no calorie info on pet food, so you're in the dark. I used a site

petsci.co.uk/calorie-content-of-dog-food-cat-food/

and checked various brands. I was surprised. Whiskas chicken in gravy for kittens is 69.7 kcals for an 80g serving, Lilys kitchen regular chicken for cats is 67.4 kcals for an 80g serving. That's an extra 2.3 kcals a pouch, just over 3%.

I expect kittens eat more per kg of body weight than cats, so perhaps they get the extra they need that way. There's a huge variety in kcals across brands and flavours once you start looking into it, so I decided I'll just feed her whatever she enjoys and can eat easily.

Bad Cat slave. Of course you should chop it up chunk by chunk.

LurkingQuietly · 14/07/2017 09:48

Haha @Toddlerteaplease I KNOW! But seeing as I'm also a small people slave something has to give. Can you believe the woman at the cattery chopped it up with a knife and fork? Each chunk! Those cats have her trained well.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll try his highness on them all. He won't eat mashed (why would he?!) apparently it has to be chopped Hmm

He'll be wanting it warmed as well. There is at least one slave on here that does that.

Sheba slices in gravy is quite fine slices, PicklePig won't eat big lumps but he eats that happily. He also loves the Whiskas Creamy Soup which looks like sick but apparently tastes good. You might need to chop that one a bit though because the lumps are a bit bigger.
Hi Life do something called 'savoury cake' which is very fine shreds in a thin gravy. That might work too.
PicklePigs absolute favourite is the hi life pate, would your cat like that? Maybe not if he doesn't like mashed food. It's completely smooth, I think PicklePig likes it because no effort is needed, he doesn't have to chew, he can just lick it.
