New Maine Coon arriving - what do we need?

Georgia, the beautiful grey MC I posted about a couple of weeks back, is coming home from the rescue next weekend. Very excited! We have cat bed, cat carry, but need recommendations for scratch posts etc. Anything not obvious which we could get which would make settling her in easier?

I can't imagine her doing anything so undignified as climbing trees!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/07/2017 07:44

I tried one of mine in Georgia's walking jacket. She at down and refused to budge. And I couldn't work out how to lengthen the lead. I think it's more the cat takes the human for a walk not the other way round!

The cat definitely takes the human. Mine did the crouching down thing the first couple of tries but is now used to it.

So sad Sad

Georgia has just arrived and is a total cuddlebug already. So surprised! She has been out of her box, had some food and checked out where the litter tray is. Both me and DH have had lots of headbunts and cheek rubs.

Aww that's lovely! I was wondering hoe you got on. Did you meet Stitch while you were there? He's ginger. I keep trying to cat nap him!

ocelot41 · 16/07/2017 22:37

Didn't get to meet Stitch no. But Modom has been out of her room, eating, drinking and toileting fine. And has currently taken up residence in our fruit bowl...

And why not! She looks very at home. I have just got back from holiday so will pop her walking jacket and mouse in the post when I get a chance.

She has been here ONE NIGHT and has already got us all on toast. We live in a town house with four floors and she miaows on each floor as she goes up and each floor as she comes down. Its hilarious!

Ah chocolatespiders, she is lovely. I am still getting used to having a precious first born 🐈. Is it normal to worry so much at first? She seems happy, playful and bonded already but I still worry!

What beautiful cats and such a tragic story. I was bawling anyway after watching a Streetcat named Bob. Poor lady.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/07/2017 22:31

I'm two years in with my PFP's and I still worry terribly!

chocolatespiders · 18/07/2017 07:19

It will take time but it seems to have gone perfectly and she seems to have fitted into your family wonderfully which is so nice. As long as she is eating well and sleeping. To me they are they traits of a contented cat!

ocelot41 · 18/07/2017 10:49

She certainly seems very chilled. We are unpacking boxes around her and she isn't fazed at all. She calls for me if she can't see me, but once she has me near, seems to settle down fine. She has let me groom her and had a good play last night

This is her, having a wash on my desk whilst I work from home
