Do I need an insurance ? Thank you :)

Yes, you would need insurance and I would expect you to be DBS checked. If you are going to keep people's keys you will need a safe.

Would you be able to administer medication?

Would you have advertising on your car? My cat sitter doesn't and that's a huge plus as far as I'm concerned as I wouldn't want a car parked outside announcing I'm away!

I'm dbs checked and yes I would get the insurance ! I don't drive so the car wouldn't be a problem.

To be honest that would put me off - I would be worried what would happen if my cat needed to go to the vet and you couldn't get him there.

There's a website called Catinaflat and you can sign up in there. They take a portion of what you earn to cover insurance. I think they are more in cities so it depends where you live.

a friend of mine started a cat sitting business a few months ago and so far she hasnt had enough clients to leave her normal paid job , and yes you would need public liability insurance, know what you are doing with animals some basic animal care if the are ill, the confidnece to handle a fiesty dog or cat, and definitely a car how woild you get between clients, if your paying for taxis that is going to eat up your takings

Taxi? Bus? If you live in an area where there are no taxis or buses then a non driving cat sitter isn't going to get to you anyway.

@Kinderbonbon check out PawShake, its a bit like CatinaFlat

I don't think you will make much money though, on PawShake it is mainly people doing it for extra cash rather than full time wage.

If my cat is ill I want someone to be able to get him to the vets quickly. Not all taxi firms will take animals and I wouldn't want my poorly cat being taken on the bus!

@PinkSparklyPussyCat OK well then you need a cat sitter with a car... which would rule out 99.99999999999999999% of cat sitters (and indeed cat owners) in London :-)

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/07/2017 19:19

And that's exactly why I have a cat sitter with a car! Thankfully I don't live in London so I chose one with their own transport. I wouldn't be comfortable with someone taking my cat on public transport, especially an inexperienced cat sitter.
