Tell me about advocate as am having a bad cat day

I use advantage (to get rid of fleas) and drontal for worms. I want things that work but don't cost the earth. Advantage is fine but drontal gives my three year old cat the runs. Tonight he has done a poo on DSs duvet, it is in the wash but may well have to go if I can't get the smell out. This is the second time he has had a poo on the bed (also briefly shut in the room that time).

Does advocate solve all this even if it is £££ and from the vet so extra hassle??

Thanks for your experiences.

Advocate doesn't treat all worms though does it.

Vinorosso74 · 27/06/2017 21:17

We use Milbemax for worming and despite her having IBD there have been no adverse reactions. Due to Vinocat being v skinny we give half a tablet every 3 months, one tablet costs a few quid so really not v costly.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 27/06/2017 22:29

We use Advocate and Profender for whatever that doesn't treat. Advocate is monthly and Profender 3 monthly

RubbishMantra · 27/06/2017 23:44

I use Advantage (can buy online much cheaper than vet) and Profender from vets for worms. It's prescription only, and the saving buying it online is minimal once you've factored prescription costs in.

Advocate and Profender here too.

I've just discovered milbemax and find it much easier than Drontal as the tablets are smaller and taste better. So much easier to get down the little buggers. Drontal was always a vets job.

Vinorosso74 · 28/06/2017 09:40

Toddler sorry but I have to ask, how do you know the tablets taste better?

Toddlerteaplease · 28/06/2017 10:11

I think it says on the box that they are flavoured. I have not been sampling Drontal or Milbemax!! GrinI always thought getting Drontal down them was like taking paracetamol without a drink.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/06/2017 10:16

Are you sure Toddler?!?

BTW, I had a dream about you - you posted to say that you'd made a mistake and Snorg and Fatty were not actually cats, they were rabbits! I have no idea where that came from but I think it proves I spend too much time on the Litter Tray!

Vinorosso74 · 28/06/2017 10:30

Well I just googled and apparently Milbemax are artificial beef flavoured. My fact for the day!

Toddlerteaplease · 28/06/2017 11:50

At work I do believe we should taste some of the medicine we are expecting the kids to take. However this does not stretch to the cat's! Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 28/06/2017 11:52

Omg Pink. I just read the last bit of your post with a mouthful of coffee. I don't know how I didn't spit it out or inhale it. I did once find an enormous black house rabbit sitting by my car. He was easily the size of Magic.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/06/2017 13:47

The bit that I forgot was that you were taking the rabbits home to China with you...

I worry about myself sometimes!

Clalpolly · 28/06/2017 14:01

We have Advocat and Drontal - sneaky pill pockets work for tablets. Back of the neck thing works for clalcat although she doesn't like it much.
